Under the title "Keys to Patient Care Quality and Safety", the Quality Director and Head of the Pharmacy Service of Molina Hospital, Dr. Francisco López Guerrero, has delivered the only conference integrated in the Conference "Quality and Safety of Health Care in the Region of Murcia ", held this morning at the Reina Sofía University General Hospital.
Dr. López Guerrero has described the process improvement methodologies used in the industry and their adaptation to improve the problems of the Health System, reducing costs and increasing quality: "We understand quality defects as anything that deviates from established criteria. (Waits, errors ...) The use of methodologies such as LEAN and Six Sigma can drastically reduce these defects, produce an increase in patient satisfaction and at the same time reduce costs, "explains the Director of Quality at Molina Hospital.
The Hospital de Molina has been developing in recent years the project LEAN SIX SIGMA for the improvement of medication errors awarded with the 2017 Kaizen Lean Award, in the category of Excellence in the Health Sector -, achieving an improvement of 65% in the drug-therapeutic treatment in hospitalized patients, since the patient enters the hospital until the medication is administered.
Along with this project, the Hospital Center also has other improvement projects underway, combining LEAN tools, with the statistical control of quality and the DMAIC methodology provided by SIX SIGMA.
For his part, the Manager of the Hospital de Molina and President of the Murcian Union of Hospitals and Clinics (UMHC), Pedro Hernández Jiménez, has moderated a round table entitled "Development of programs of quality care and patient safety."
During the Conference, organized by New Medical Economics, and inaugurated by the Health Counselor, Manuel Villegas García, the New European Data Protection Security Regulation has also been addressed.
