APAMOL opens its new headquarters in Molina de Segura for the care of people affected by Parkinson's disease (12/06/2018)

The Association for People Affected by Parkinson's Disease and other neurological disorders of Molina de Segura (APAMOL) has a new headquarters in El Jardín Center.

The facilities were visited, today, Tuesday, June 12, by the Mayor of the town, Esther Clavero Mira, the President of APAMOL, Patricia López López, and the Councilor for Social Welfare, Ángel Navarro García.

The new APAMOL Day Center is located in the dependencies formerly occupied by AFAD-Molina.

In operation since the middle of last March, APAMOL serves there twelve users, to which must be added their corresponding family members, being able to reach, among users and relatives, more than twenty people.

APAMOL is an entity designed to work with people affected by Parkinson's disease and people with other neurological disorders (dementia, stroke, trauma, etc.), with symptoms similar to Parkinson's disease, with family members and caregivers of those affected .

Through the actions of the entity, there is a device for caring for people suffering from Parkinson's disease and other neurological disorders.

Most of the cases that have this diagnosis receive their treatment through pharmacology, although specialists are aware of the benefit of other complementary therapies, such as gymnastics and cognitive stimulation.

The APAMOL project includes services aimed at people affected by Parkinson's disease and neurological disorders, providing the municipality with a socio-health care resource that covers the needs of those affected and their families, as these activities are not contemplated in the health system.

APAMOL carries out the following actions:

Group gymnastics workshop and individualized assistance.

Workshop of cognitive stimulation and other complementary therapies.

Emotional support workshop and other complementary therapies.

The association currently has: 2 psychologists, 1 physiotherapist and 3 volunteers.
