Citizens has once again demanded the implantation of a dozen medical specialties at the Hospital de Molina, a measure that would prevent thousands of trips by patients from the city to the health center of El Carmen, in Murcia.
The local coordinator, Pedro Rodríguez, highlighted after a work meeting with the center's management that "the Hospital de Molina was born with a vocation for public service and is unused with only three specialties -Urology, General Surgery and Ophthalmology- when they are left still to implement some of the most demanded, such as Dermatology, Integral Traumatology and Otorhinolaryngology ".
To these should also be added mid-term Endocrinology and Nutrition, Rehabilitation and Physiotherapy, Orthopedic Surgery, Cardiology and Digestive Apparatus, Rodríguez said.
"The hospital center already has the necessary spaces, equipment and qualified staff to implement these medical specialties, and also at zero cost, so we do not understand the reason for the delay," the orange coordinator agreed with the manager of the hospital. Hospital de Molina, Pedro Hernández.
"The implantation of new medical specialties would not only benefit the patients of Molina de Segura, but it would suppose a remarkable improvement for those of Alguazas, Las Torres de Cotillas or even Archena," they highlighted.
Also, the consolidation of the new specialties would provide greater stability to the Hospital de Molina and its employees who see how they renew their concert each year, being currently the only hospital with this type of concert in the Region.
The demand for the implementation of the specialties was already presented by Citizens in February 2017, arguing that it would have a zero cost for the Administration and would prevent thousands of trips to Murcia from Molina de Segura patients, while decongesting the neighborhood health center from El Carmen, where they currently go.
Rodriguez stressed that the measure "would put the focus back on the patient and at zero cost, so we do not understand why it does not apply immediately."
