The City of Molina de Segura launches, for the third year, the free service of summer school meals for children of families in need or at risk of social exclusion, which is provided from July 2 to August 31, 2018, in the facilities of CEIP Tierno Galván, according to the Councilor for Social Welfare, Ángel Navarro García.
The double objective of this initiative is: to provide children aged 3 to 16 years, during the holiday period, with an adequate diet for their needs, respecting cultural and religious differences, as well as food intolerances and allergies;
and provide a space where children can reinforce convenient food habits, hygiene, relational, educational and social integration.
Minors can access whose profile is as follows:
Minors who receive lunch scholarships during the school year.
Families with lack of economic resources.
Family units with lack of personal and social support.
Families in intervention in social services.
The service has been extended this year to 100 places (in 2017 it was 80), since demand has grown.
Minors are incorporated into the service through the proposal of professionals, after assessing the situation of need thereof.
Most of the children participate in social programs of the council, or other social entities that work in the area (Family, UTS, Integra ... CEPAIM, Red Cross).
The technical proposal for the participation of minors is determined by several criteria:
Be included in social service programs.
Present a situation of risk and social vulnerability.
As a special novelty, this year the activity will be supported by a transport service, with a special route for participants, which will start at Avenida de Madrid, at 1:00 pm, making three stops on its route to CEIP Tierno Galván, and the return trip once the dining service is finished at 3:30 p.m.
According to the Councilor for Social Welfare, "the difficulties that some families in the municipality face due to the scarcity of resources to provide the children with adequate food for their needs in the summer period (since during the months of July and August there is a dining room by the end of the school year), fundamentally derived from the lack of economic, personal and social resources that leads them to a situation of need and social integration.With the growing demand, the City has launched this school canteen service in the months of July and August in the CEIP Tierno Galván, with two shifts, one from 13.30 to 14.30 and another from 14.30 to 15.30, thus avoiding the overcrowding of minors, making it easier to provide the service. "
During the month of August, and as a result of the completion of summer resources aimed at minors, the dining room will be complemented with educational and social integration activities.
In a pleasant way, actions will be developed on coeducation, equality, harassment, etc.
The provision of the service has a cost of 21,083.04 euros, plus 7,260 euros for the transport service, charged to the municipal budget, and has 6 monitors from the company Diloa attached to the dining room and a coordinator, as well as technicians / educators from The Department of Social Welfare for control and monitoring.
Regarding 2017, the second year of this service, several improvements have been incorporated in it:
Increase in the number of dining places to cover the needs of families with minors in the municipality.
They have gone from 80 to 100 places.
The location of the dining service this year will be in the CEIP Tierno Galván, which means a too wide distance for the access of the minors, so this year an additional transport service is incorporated, from the northern area of ​​the municipality to the school where the activity takes place, making four stops on its route in Avenida de Madrid, Plaza de Espańa, Plaza de la Constitución and Ermita de San Roque, and with capacity for 55 children, whose domicile is at a higher ratio than 2 km

The menus prepared for the dining room respect cultural diversity.
Minors who present intolerances and special needs will be treated according to these situations.
The hiring contemplates ethical and environmental criteria that include ecological foods directed to the best nutrition of the minors.
During the month of August the two points where the dining room is located will have complementary activities (since there are scarce resources during that month in the municipality) aimed at providing minors with an educational and social integration space.
