Cáritas receives 60,000 municipal euros for social support to families of Molina de Segura (31/07/2018)

The City of Molina de Segura and Caritas Diocese of Cartagena have signed a collaboration agreement for the reception, care and support of people in situations of vulnerability and serious social exclusion that includes a contribution of 60,000 euros for the maintenance of programs and projects that the religious entity performs in the territory.

Caritas Diocese of Cartagena has a basic network of welcome, care and support in the Region of Murcia that takes shape in Molina de Segura with the presence in the parishes of Our Lady of the Assumption, Sacred Heart of Jesus, Sagrada Familia and St. Vincent Martyr in the urban center, Bleeding Heart of Jesus in Ribera de Molina and Nuestra Señora de las Mercedes in Los Valientes.

To these spaces are added five Caritas premises dedicated to the reception and social accompaniment, logistics and distribution of basic necessities, specific attention to people in a situation of homelessness or substandard housing, and career guidance.

The contribution of the City of Molina de Segura adds to the 84,000 euros that Cáritas mobilizes in the municipality in various campaigns to raise funds among the local Christian community and through the Christian communication of goods in the Diocese.

In the first semester of 2018, Cáritas Territorial de Molina de Segura has attended to 369 people directly, reaching the aid to 1,085 people indirectly if we serve family units and households.

The team of Cáritas Territorial de Molina de Segura consists of 123 volunteer agents, the parish priests of the churches of the municipality and two contracted agents, who have the support and support of the technical staff of General Services of Caritas diocesan.

Cáritas Territorial de Molina de Segura is in contact with the educational centers of the municipality during the year, developing actions to raise awareness about social inequalities and the role we play as a society in its approach.

In addition, Cáritas is present in fairs and municipal spaces with the aim of informing social resources at the service of the most vulnerable people, as well as presenting the possibilities of social volunteering within the Catholic institution.
