The Department of Environment of the Molinense City Council, through the Environmental Volunteering Program Voluntari @ s Naturalmente !, initiated the rehabilitation of this space that will become a resource for environmental awareness and education
The Environmental Volunteering Program Volunteers Naturally !, promoted by the Department of the Environment of the City of Molina de Segura, held on Saturday September 29 a rehabilitation activity of the botanical corner of the Park of the Company.
During the activity, the volunteers were able to know the native species with which the plantation was going to be carried out and the environmental benefits of its use in the urban green areas.
Cleaning, clearing and conditioning activities were carried out in the area, and plantations of species native to the Mediterranean pine, such as black hawthorn, mastic, white rock, juniper and myrtle, were planted.
This action, in which volunteering has collaborated, is part of the improvement project of this botanical corner, which the Department of Environment has launched and which aims to provide this space with native species of different environments, as a resource for environmental awareness and education.
This rehabilitation will be completed covering the soil of the beds with volcanic gravel, to contain moisture and prevent the propagation of unwanted grass and weeds, and with the placement of identification signs for each of the plants.
During the activity, an information point was installed next to the plantation area to inform citizens about the activities of the volunteer program, inviting them to register as a volunteer.
The Councilor for the Environment, Juan Alcaide Quirós, wants to "thank the participants for their collaboration in this activity, with which they have had the opportunity to improve a vitally important space in the city, such as the Parque de la Compañía, contributing to the enrichment of its biodiversity and participating in its protection ".
The activities of this program take place on the last Saturday of each month and are aimed at all those over 14 years old interested in the conservation of natural areas and the improvement of the municipality.
