The Cifea de Molina participates in a European project on sustainable food production (10/10/2018)

The Integrated Center for Training and Agricultural Experiences (Cifea) of Molina de Segura, under the Ministry of Water, Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, participates in an Erasmus European project entitled 'Towards a sustainable community in food production', which finances the Cooperation for innovation action and the exchange of good practices of the Erasmus program of the European Union.

This project will be carried out over the next two years by various institutions, associations and educational centers in Denmark, Italy, Slovenia and Spain.

One of the beneficiary entities is the EUROPEA-Spain Association, which brings together trainers and educational centers from all over Spain that work in the areas of agriculture and agroindustrial production and to which the Cifea de Molina belongs.

The project collaborates with local entities, chef associations, research centers and NGOs to raise awareness among vocational students about the importance of sustainable food production.

Among the most important objectives are to know and promote the links between food production in the EU and European strategies for sustainable development, innovative initiatives with trainers and students to produce and transform food with principles of sustainable development, with efficiency in the consumption of water resources and cycle of organic nutrients, with criteria of preservation of biodiversity, energy saving and recycling of waste, as well as promoting local food production (zero miles for food).

Presentation of the project

The Cifea de Molina recently launched this project of importance for the development of the agroindustrial sector and the regional economy.

The general director of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Aquaculture, Francisco González Zapater said that "society demands increasing food production", and stressed that, "together with the efficient use of water, another of the key elements for sustainability in the production is the conservation of agricultural land and the fight against erosion and desertification ".
