The City of Molina de Segura and APAMOL sign an agreement for comprehensive care for people with limited economic resources suffering from Parkinson's disease (19/10/2018)

The act of signing the collaboration agreement between the City of Molina de Segura and the Association for People Affected by Parkinson's Disease and other neurological alterations of Molina de Segura (APAMOL) for comprehensive care for people with limited economic resources suffering from Parkinson's disease or acquired brain damage (cerebrovascular accident / stroke or brain injury) took place today, Friday, October 19, in the municipality of Molinense.

The Mayor of the town, Esther Clavero Mira, the President of APAMOL, Patricia López López, and the Councilor for Social Welfare, Ángel Navarro García, attended.

The agreement includes a municipal subsidy of 7,500 euros.

APAMOL is committed to the fulfillment of the following objectives with this project:

Provide the municipality of Molina de Segura with a resource for social health assistance that covers the needs of people affected by Parkinson's disease and / or brain damage.

Start a series of resources to achieve the full recovery of the sick person with maximum physical, mental and social development.

Offer Neuro Rehabilitation treatment to people affected by Parkinson's or other cognitive impairments of the municipality that require it and have low income.

The increase in funding (2,500 euros more than in 2017) will allow APAMOL to carry out new activities: animal-assisted therapy;

sexology and couple therapy;

intergenerational workshops;

and dance.

It also extends the hours of attention of the entity up to three days a week.

Also included in the agreement is the commitment of the entity to take into account the Social and Labor Insertion Exchange of the Molina City Council, aimed at favoring the integration into the labor market of people in situation of unemployment in the municipality.

APAMOL serves people affected by Parkinson's neurodegenerative disease, dementia, brain damage or other cognitive impairments associated with diseases.

The beneficiaries of the services are between 30 and 80 years old.

The APAMOL project that includes this agreement contemplates services aimed at people affected by Parkinson's disease and / or brain damage that, in parallel to health care, require resources and non-pharmacological treatments for optimal physical, mental, and social development. her illness.

APAMOL undertakes to carry out the following actions:

Rehabilitation of physical sequels.

Physiotherapy.

Rehabilitation of speech or communication.

Occupational therapy

Cognitive stimulation

Psychological attention.

Family support to patients and relatives.

Speech therapist and Communicative Mediation.

Nutrition and Pharmacology

The APAMOL Day Center has been located for a few months in El Jardin de Molina de Segura Center, thanks to the cession of demand for use, by agreement of the Local Government Board dated March 6, 2018, for the development of activities of the entity.

APAMOL has: 2 psychologists, 1 physiotherapist and 3 volunteers (speech therapist, assistant technician and vehicle driver).
