The Molina de Segura City Council receives the visit of the Minister of Health, Consumption and Social Welfare (09/11/2018)

The act of reception of the Municipal Corporation of the City of Molina de Segura, to the Minister of Health, Consumption and Social Welfare, María Luisa Carcedo Roces, took place today, Friday, November 9, in the Municipal Plenary Hall.

He was accompanied on the visit by the Mayor of Molina de Segura, Esther Clavero Mira, the Government Delegate in the Autonomous Region of Murcia, Diego Conesa Alvárez, and the Councilor for Public Health, Esther Sánchez Rodríguez.

Molina de Segura is a national benchmark in health matters, as it is the only municipality in Spain that has won two NAOS Awards.

Installed by the Ministry of Health in 2007, the NAOS Awards have 7 modalities and try to recognize the best actions and national programs, both public and private, that contribute to the promotion of a healthy diet and the practice of physical activity.

The Ministry of Health has awarded the 2017 NAOS Prize to the Molina de Segura City Council as the Best Physical Activity Program in Spain in the Family and Community Sphere.

The award recognizes the child-youth strategy promoted by the Department of Sports and Health, along with the health centers of the municipality and the University of Murcia, and with the collaboration of the University Hospital Virgen de la Arrixaca, the Hospital de Molina and the FFIS Foundation.

The NAOS Award will be presented by the Minister of Health at a public ceremony in Madrid, which will take place on Monday, November 12, at 10.30 am, at the Spanish Agency for Consumer Affairs, Food Safety and Nutrition, in the Ernest Lluch Assembly Hall of the Ministry of Health, Consumption and Social Welfare.

The Mayor of Molina de Segura, Esther Clavero Mira, and the Councilor for Public Health, Esther Sánchez Rodríguez, attend.

Molina de Segura City Council has already won the NAOS Award in 2009 for the Best Program in Healthy Eating in Spain in the School Environment, thanks to its Municipal Program for the Prevention of Obesity for Children and Youth.

It is the first time in the history of the NAOS Awards that any physical or legal entity manages to have two prizes, in this case in the two possible areas of action: Food (2009 NAOS Award) and Physical Activity (NAOS 2017 Award).
