The councils of Social Welfare and Education of the City of Molina de Segura have launched the new municipal program Aula Cervantes, with the aim of providing support to foreign non-Spanish speaking children aged three to six years, with low level of Castilian , to achieve their linguistic immersion and, therefore, their educational integration through the learning of Spanish.
According to the Councilor for Social Welfare, Angel Navarro Garcia, "the City of Molina de Segura believes necessary to respond to those schools that have difficulties to serve children enrolled in school and enrolled in Early Childhood Education and have low level of Spanish, because they are of a demand that the educational centers carry out to improve the adaptation of the students to the educational context and curriculum, in the shortest possible time ".
To carry out this action, this municipal program is developed experimentally during the school year 2018/2019.
Said program will provide those resources that are necessary to favor the social integration of the collective in the municipality of Molinense, detecting situations of need and providing those resources suitable for it or generating those that do not exist.
The councils launch a playful classroom of support (the game is used as a learning method) for the reinforcement and learning of Castilian, carried out as an extracurricular activity located in each of the four educational centers where it will be taught this service: CEIP Gregorio Miñano, CEIP San Antonio, CEIP Sacred Heart and CEIP Cervantes.
Each center selects the preferred students for their participation in this program, in groups with a ratio between 12 and 15 students.
The Aula Cervantes is in operation from October 2018 to May 2019, and has a budget of 3,300 euros, with zero cost for families who use this activity.
It has a monitor with professional category of Educator.
