The Department of Social Welfare of the City of Molina de Segura conducts a Christmas Kitchen Workshop aimed at groups served by the Social Services Programs of the municipality, which runs throughout the month of December on alternative days.

This initiative aims to: promote the typical culinary culture of the town's Christmas season;

promote collective / group work skills among minors belonging to Social Services intervention programs;

enhance the knowledge of the Christmas customs of the municipality in the foreign population;

and complement the different actions that have been carried out throughout the year with the Major, Immigrant and Minor Programs.

The activity, which has a budget of 1,506.27 euros, is aimed at a broad sector of the population, since it is carried out with certain groups of elderly people, users of the Municipal Immigrant Program and minors participating in the Integral Service of the Municipal Program of Family and Minors of Social Services of Molina de Segura.

In total, the participation of about 90 people is planned.

The workshop is taught by the technicians of each of the three programs involved, jointly with the volunteers assigned to each program.

According to the Councilor for Social Welfare, Ángel Navarro García, "from the City Council we intend to help keep alive the traditions of our people by transmitting the knowledge of our ancestors to the current generations." The month of December, traditionally, is a time when our closest ancestors have made typical recipes to consume in family and playful environments during the Christmas holidays, and, in addition, in the Department of Social Welfare there is a large group of volunteers willing to give their time to this end in an altruistic manner. Groups that, through initiatives like this one, are carried out demonstrate the benefits of teamwork among the participants and are more decisive when it comes to achieving the marked learning objectives ".
