The Town Council of Molina de Segura and the Protector of Animals of the town sign two agreements for the protection of animals and the promotion of their adoption, and the control of feline colonies (13/12/2018)

The act of signing two agreements between the Molina de Segura City Council and the Animal Protector of Molina de Segura, one of them for the protection of animals and the promotion of their adoption, and another on controlled feline colonies (CES Program), It took place today, Thursday, December 13, in the municipality of Molinense.

The signature was attended by the Mayor of the town, Esther Clavero Mira, the President of the Protector of Animals of Molina de Segura, Laura Belda Soto, and a volunteer of the Protector, Beatriz Sabater Martín.

The agreement for the protection of animals and the promotion of their adoption aims to grant a municipal subsidy amounting to 15,000 euros to the Protector of Animals of Molina de Segura, to serve the permanent assistance service on public roads and spaces public, directed to rescue and urgent health care of animals.

The Animal Protective Association of Molina de Segura is a citizen volunteer association whose objectives are to avoid animal suffering, especially of dogs and cats, and its abandonment, through citizen awareness campaigns and the promotion of responsible adoption.

The activities and actions carried out by the Protective Association of Animals of Molina de Segura, by virtue of this agreement, are the following:

Promote the adoption of animals through awareness campaigns among citizens and through new technologies, with the maintenance of an updated website with the dogs available for adoption.

Sanitary care of animals that include both preventive and curative and surgical treatments necessary (internal and external deworming, sterilization of Center animals, mandatory vaccinations, etc.), including emergencies generated by animals injured on public roads, according to the Chapter V, the control of animals, article 29 of the Municipal Ordinance for the possession, protection and welfare of animals in Molina de Segura, which provides that the City Council will offer a permanent assistance service on public roads and public spaces, directed to rescue and urgent health care of animals.

For this, the association has a veterinarian, technical responsible for the shelter, which is coordinated with the Director of the Zoosanitary Center, in addition to collaborations with other veterinary clinics of Molina de Segura that can be established from the aforementioned Association to carry out these actions .

Identification of Center animals through electronic transponder (microchip), in accordance with current regulations.

Development of awareness and education programs on the respect and care of animals.

Development of dog education programs, including evaluation and enrichment of dogs in the refuge, marketing and communication, audiovisual media, advice by a canine educator in the adoption process and even adaptation, for which a trainer should be available professional canine

For its part, the agreement on controlled feline colonies (CES Program) aims to grant a municipal subsidy amounting to 6,000 euros to the Protector of Animals of Molina de Segura, which is committed to carrying out the following activities and actions :

The creation of feline colonies sanitarily controlled, in accordance with article 25 of Law 6/2017, of November 8, on the protection and defense of companion animals of the Region of Murcia: capture, sterilization, identification on behalf of the municipality through transponder electronic (microchip) and returned to the colony of origin.

The design and implementation of a work protocol agreed with the Municipal Office for Animal Protection.

Preventive sanitary treatments (internal and external deworming, compulsory vaccinations by the current regulations), having a veterinarian, technical head of the shelter that should be coordinated with the Director of the Zoosanitary Center, in addition to the collaborations with other veterinary clinics of Molina de Segura can be established from the aforementioned Association to carry out these actions.

Promote the adoption of animals through awareness campaigns among citizens and through new technologies with the maintenance of an updated website with feral cats that can be adopted.
