Highlights the regional government's commitment to the Logistics Activities Areas of Murcia and Cartagena, and stresses that the region has more than 7,200 transport companies, a sector in which only last year 36,000 work contracts were signed

The president of the Community, Fernando López Miras, today underlined in Molina de Segura the commitment of the regional transport sector to sustainable mobility and respect for the environment, during the inauguration of a new liquefied natural gas plant, located in the company 'Campillo Palmera', leader in the transport sector.

Lopez Miras stressed that the Region has more than 7,200 companies in this sector, more than 150,000 trucks and vans registered and only last year 36,000 work contracts were signed.

The transport and storage sector in the Region of Murcia reaches a turnover of around 3,500 million euros.

The president reiterated the support of the regional government to this sector through the Logistics Activities Areas of Murcia and Cartagena.

All the construction projects are being written to be able to execute the implementation works of the ZAL of Murcia.

Also from the ZAL of Cartagena, a project that has attracted the interest of 118 companies to develop their logistic and port potential in the industrial estate.

The company 'Campillo Palmera' currently has 500 workers.

Last summer, added to its fleet of trucks 15 units powered by natural gas, which means a reduction of emissions to the atmosphere, in addition to getting that with the same expense, a heavy vehicle travel a distance 36 percent greater than a diesel .

It has platforms in Molina de Segura and Cartagena, and delegations in Seville, Valencia, Barcelona or Tangier, and even in Italy and Bulgaria.

It specializes in the transport of fruits and vegetables, pharmacological products and cold storage.

In transport of fruits and vegetables, in 2018 generated 69.5 percent of its turnover and has import and export services to Italy, Germany, United Kingdom, France, Belgium, Holland, Austria, Switzerland, Eastern countries, Scandinavia and Morocco.
