Next Friday, March 1, in the afternoon, the V Regional Conference on Rare Diseases, organized by the Delegation of Murcia of the Spanish Federation of Rare Diseases (FEDER), the City of Molina de Segura and the Hospital de Molina, is held. with the collaboration of the Murciano Health Service (SMS) and the Foundation of Medical Studies of Molina de Segura (FEM), and which will be held in the Plenary Hall of the Molinense City Council (Plaza de España, s / n, Molina de Segura ).

During the day, Alessio Cabizosu (researcher of the Research Chair of Hospital de Molina of the UCAM), will present the study of thermography as a tool for diagnosis and evaluation of muscular dystrophy of Emery-Dreifuss.

The thermographic technique is based on the measurement and quantification of body surface temperature and can become a novel diagnostic tool, presenting numerous advantages, such as the immediacy of results or non-invasiveness.

Specifically, when applied to the muscular dystrophy Emery-Dreifuss - a type of dystrophy that mainly affects the skeletal and cardiac muscle -, researchers of the Chair have found differences in temperature depending on the evolutionary phase of the disease.

Future plans about research in this disease will also center part of his presentation.

La Jornada, which will begin at 4:30 p.m., will be opened by the Regional Minister of Health of the Region of Murcia, Manuel Villegas García, the Mayor of Molina de Segura, Esther Clavero Mira, the President of FEDER and the FEDER Foundation, Juan Carrión Tudela, and the Manager of the Molina Hospital, Pedro Hernández Jiménez.
