The Department of Environment of the City of Molina de Segura develops the Environmental Volunteering Program to encourage citizen participation in the conservation of the environment.
Under the motto ¡Voluntari @ s naturally!, This spring continues the journey of this proposal for environmental awareness, which aims to involve those interested and who decide to invest part of their free time in the conservation of the environment.
The activities of the Environmental Volunteer Program are carried out on the last Saturday of each month, from 10 am to 1 pm, in different natural areas of Molina de Segura and also in the urban environment.
In the spring program, activities will be carried out in the Vicente Blanes Ecological Park, the Las Lagunas de Campotéjar Salar Gordo ZEPA, the La Fuente Green Corridor and the green areas of the urban area, with reforestation, maintenance and trail diagnosis, monitoring of migratory birds or identification tasks of plant species.
The new activities proposal consists of the following actions:
March 30: planting of native species in the Vicente Blanes Ecological Park.
April 27: maintenance and conditioning of trails in the Las Lagunas de Campotéjar Salar Gordo SPA and ringing workshop for small birds.
May 25: tour through the Green Corridor La Fuente to make a diagnosis of their situation.
June 29: identification of native and allochthonous flora species in the green areas of the city of Molina de Segura.
The Environmental Volunteering Program is aimed at people over 18 years of age or over 14 with authorization.
The activities are free and it is essential to pre-register.
Those who are interested can join the program at any time.

The Councilor for the Environment, Juan Alcaide Quirós, stressed that "the conservation of the environment of Molina de Segura and its environmental and cultural values ​​requires the awareness, protection and active participation of its population." This collaboration and citizen involvement contributes to better environmental management, improves the prevention, detection and resolution of environmental problems, and compromises in the search for solutions ".
The next activity planned for March 30 is the following: planting of native species in the Vicente Blanes Ecological Park.
A brief training will be imparted about the main autochthonous species that make up the ecosystem of this natural space, to later realize a plantation of the same ones in those zones of the park selected by the technical personnel of the Department of the Environment.
This activity is part of the activities that commemorate the World Forestry Day, which aim to remember the importance of forests of all kinds and the ecosystems they harbor around the world.
From the Department of Environment, all people interested in the conservation of the environment are encouraged to approach the information table and participate in this proposal of volunteer activities.
