The jury of the IX Doctor Francisco Guirado 2019 Award, convened by the Molina de Segura City Council, has agreed to award the award to the coordinators of the health centers Professor Antonio García and Professor Jesús Marín, Emilio Macanás Pérez and Juan Francisco Menárguez Puche, respectively , in the individual category, and the Association of Relatives of Patients with Alzheimer's and Other Dementias of Molina de Segura (AFAD Molina), in the collective category.
Emilio Macanás and Juan Francisco Menárguez carry out their work as coordinators of the two health centers of the municipality for many years, from where they have opened these centers to the public, health promotion and community participation.
For its part, AFAD Molina celebrated 15 years of life in 2018, and did so by opening a new headquarters in the Las Balsas Center.
She works with people diagnosed with Alzheimer's and other dementias, and their relatives, with actions to respond to the needs derived from this disease, seeking cognitive, physical, social, emotional and family respite stimulation.
For this, it has 11 professionals for the development of its activity.
It currently has 40 members and 28 users, of which 12 make use of the Day Center. Throughout its 15 years of life, the association has served 180 people.
The award will be given by the Mayor of the town, Esther Clavero Mira, during the event to be held on Friday, April 5, at 12.30 pm, in the tent of the Health Forum, in the Plaza de España.
