Molina de Segura City Council starts the Crece Molina Program, with activities for children and youth in social centers (09/04/2019)

The Department of Social Welfare of the City of Molina de Segura has launched the Crece Molina Program, with activities for children and youth in the social centers of the municipality, charged to the Participatory Budgets 2017.

According to the Councilor for Social Welfare, Ángel Navarro García, "the Crece Molina Program makes it possible for all the children of the municipality interested in carrying out activities in their social centers to have an offer in accordance with the demands that have been collected through the representatives of the different zones, while making visible the social center as a benchmark for community leisure in the neighborhood to which they belong ".

The main objectives of this program are:

Offer a space for meeting, training and enjoyment of free time among the child and youth population of the municipality of Molina de Segura, including its districts.

Encourage the use of municipal social centers by a new sector of the population, such as childhood, in order to make visible a space that has been used up until now by other social agents.

Internalize the social center as a neighborhood reference for the community participation of the inhabitants of Molina de Segura.

Promote cultural and sports alternatives aimed at an adequate prevention of risk behaviors (such as drug consumption, care of the environment, emotional intelligence, etc.).

The activities are aimed at children aged between 3 and 16 years, establishing three age ranges: from 3 to 6 years, from 7 to 11 years and from 12 to 16 years.

It will give coverage, approximately, to 500 minors in groups of 10 per activity in the social centers of El Jardín / Castillo, San Roque, Fatima, San Miguel, Las Balsas, La Molineta, El Carmen, Los Conejos, La Alcayna, El Fenazar, Los Valientes, El Romeral, La Ribera, La Torrealta and El Llano de Molina.

The different workshops are budgeted at 60,000 euros, charged to the Participatory Budgets 2017, and will be carried out by monitors with training in leisure activities and free time of the company awarded this service, SALZILLO Servicios Integrales SL, under the supervision and monitoring of municipal technicians of the councils of Social Welfare and Citizen Participation.

After the diffusion of the program throughout the month of April, as well as the registration of the minors in the different activities, the workshops will begin in the first week of May and will be developed during the following 10 months, suspending activities during the summer season .

According to the councilor, "children, as a sector of the population with ample opportunities to participate in healthy leisure activities, must have an increasingly higher supply of activities that complement their personal development." The municipal social centers, until now, carried out activities focused on the collectives primarily of women and the elderly, and in certain social centers of districts there was hardly any effective use of these spaces because there was no offer of community activities, which is why the Molina de Segura City Council is committed to making effective the demands of the population, through the proposals of citizens, specified in the Participatory Budgeting process ".
