The Hospital de Molina presents its LEAN projects on quality of care and patient safety (11/04/2019)

The Hospital de Molina has presented, this morning, the LEAN projects in which the hospital has been working for years to get implement this methodology throughout the organization - and are related to the quality of care and patient safety.

Among others, "Children's surgery in collaboration with the surgeons of the University Hospital Virgen de la Arrixaca (HUVA)" or "Streamlining the response of the Hospital de Molina to the waiting lists of the Murcian Health Service (SMS)".

LEAN is a philosophy of organizational improvement that emerged in Japan, which is based on eliminating what does not add value and providing fast and effective quality products and services when the client demands it.

The Director of Quality and Head of Pharmacy at the Hospital de Molina, Francisco López Guerrero, explained that this methodology - which emerged in the industrial sector - has great potential in the health sector: "It is being used in countries such as Japan and the United States. , but its implantation in Spain is very scarce.In the Hospital de Molina we began to implant it in 2011 and we are traveling this path of continuous improvement with the objective of making a sustainable and efficient Hospital that provides quality services to society ".

López Guerrero presented the different LEAN projects of the Hospital de Molina in the framework of the Conference on "Tools LEAN method for Health in the Region of Murcia", organized by the Murcian Union of Hospitals and Clinics (UMHC) - in collaboration with Ferrer, Pfizer and the SMS -, which was held this morning in the Culture Classroom of Cajamar (Murcia).
