The Nature Information Center Alto del Rellano Vicente Blanes Ecological Park of Molina de Segura, managed by the Department of Environment of the Molinense City Council, opens its doors on Sunday, May 26, from 10:00 to 14:00.

In addition to offering information on the environmental, landscape, cultural and tourist resources of the environment, the center organizes two activities.

210 million years ago, as a result of the drying out of large coastal lagoons filled with brackish water that covered the entire municipality of Molina de Segura, they formed part of the soils and rocks of the northern area where Vicente Park is located Blanes.

Soils rich in gypsum and marls with shades of white-grayish and sometimes reddish that house plant formations of great interest and high botanical diversity, such as plant communities that live in marls and gypsum.

This type of vegetation is very well represented in the municipality of Molina de Segura and has numerous endemisms, unique species of the place.

Some of the species typical of this type of soil are the quebraollas (Ononis tridentata), the yellow leaf (Astragalus alopecuroides), the Jara de flamillas (Helianthemum squamatum) or the quebrantapiedras (Herniaria fruticosa).

To learn more about this type of flora, at 10.30 a workshop will be held on the curiosities that the gypsum flora presents.

It will know the origin of these so peculiar soils that cause a specific flora to appear, as well as the different species that exist in the Vicente Blanes Ecological Park and its surroundings.

At 11.30 am there will be an interpretative route on the gypsum flora of the Vicente Blanes Ecological Park, where attendees will learn to identify the different gypsic plants present in the area.

In addition, the landscape and wildlife observed during the route will be interpreted.

It is recommended to wear a cap, sunscreen, comfortable shoes and clothes and water.

Participation is free and it is not necessary to make prior registration, except for groups of more than 10 people.

The center opens its doors on the second and fourth Sunday of each month.
