#ForoComSalud Nutrition and the media: information or disinformation? (30/05/2019)

Under the heading Nutrition and media: information or misinformation?

It was developed during the morning of yesterday, Wednesday, May 29, the 2nd # ForoComSalud (Communication and Health), organized by the Hospital de Molina and the Official College of Journalists of the Region of Murcia, and which has two parts.

A round table, in which they have intervened:

Pablo Barcina Pérez, (Nutritionist at Hospital de Molina).

Mª Eugenia Lozano Sánchez (Content Director of Popular TV region of Murcia).

Pachi Larrosa Sancho (Gastronomic journalist of La Verdad and Academic number of the Academy of Gastronomy of the Region of Murcia).

Miguel Masssotti Manzanares (Director of the "MURyCía" program of Regional Wave).

Among the conclusions of the table have made reference to that "the population needs tools to have a criterion that helps us to understand the information that the media offer us about nutrition and food".

They have also stressed that "the immediacy in the way of communicating, referring above all to social networks, makes the contrast of information very difficult on many occasions".

And in summary, "everyone has recognized that they have to collaborate between communication professionals and the academic world, since it is a shared responsibility".

#Healthy Show: in front of almost 200 elementary students, the nutritionist of Molina Hospital, Rebeca Pastor Valero My Personal Food, has shown how using different resources to communicate health, it is possible to transfer the message to more people, the recipient (minors, adults and families) understands the message better and internalizes it more easily, increases the motivation for acquiring healthy eating habits, etc.

In fact, Pastor Valero has pointed out that, although it is too early to offer results, there is real evidence that the families put into practice the recommendations offered in previous #Salvailable Shows.

The second edition of #ForoComSalud will be celebrated within the framework of the 19th anniversary of the Hospital de Molina, as part of the program of informative health activities, organized by the hospital center: www.hospitaldemolina.com

The #ForoComSalud is part of the collaboration agreement established between the Hospital de Molina and the Press Association Foundation and the Official Association of Journalists of the Region of Murcia, with the aim of gathering the opinion of experts and offering society a reliable and contrasted information on the many topics related to the physical, psychological and social well-being to which we all aspire.

Last November celebrated its first edition with the debate open to citizens "Do we put our health in the hands of the internet?".
