The Molina de Segura City Council has launched the free summer school canteen service for children of families in need or at risk of social exclusion, which is provided from July 1 to August 31, 2019, at the facilities of the CEIP El Sifón, as reported by the Councilor for Social Welfare, Ángel Navarro García.
The Mayor of the town, Esther Clavero Mira, accompanied by the councilman, visited the dining room today, Wednesday, July 10.
The double objective of this initiative is: to provide children under 6 to 16 years of age (exceptionally 3, 4 and 5 years old), during the holiday period, a diet adequate to their needs, respecting cultural and religious differences, as well as intolerances and food allergies;
and provide a space where children can reinforce convenient food habits, hygiene, relational, educational and social integration.
Minors can access whose profile is the following:
Minors who receive lunch scholarships during the school year.
Families with lack of economic resources.
Family units with lack of personal and social support.
Families in intervention in social services.
Families derived from social resources in the vulnerable area.
The service maintains the number of places of the past year in 100. The minors are incorporated to the service through the proposal of the professionals, previous valuation of the situation of need of the same ones.
All of them participate in social programs, mainly attending the criterion of presenting a situation of risk or vulnerability.
As a special novelty, this year the activity will be supported with an additional transport service, of 55 and 28 seats, with a special route for participants, which will start at Avenida de Madrid at 1:00 pm, making three stops on its route to the CEIP El Sifón (in Plaza de España, Plaza de la Constitución and Plaza de Pío XII), and making the return trip once the dining room service is finished, at 3:30 p.m.
According to the Councilor for Social Welfare, "the difficulties faced by some families in the municipality to provide children with adequate food to their needs in the summer period (since during the months of July and August there is no dining room by the end of the school year), is derived fundamentally from the lack of economic, personal and social resources that leads them to a situation of need and social integration.For this situation, the Department of Social Welfare has launched this school cafeteria service in the months of July and August in the CEIP El Sifón, with two shifts, one from 13.30 to 14.30 and another from 2.30 to 15.30, creating in this way an optimal environment among the minors and facilitating the provision of the service ".
During the month of August, and as a result of the completion of summer resources aimed at minors, the dining room is complemented by educational, sports and social integration activities.
In a pleasant way, actions are developed on coeducation, equality, harassment, etc.
The provision of the service has a cost of about 27,174.40 euros (18,924.40 euros from the dining room, plus 8,250 euros for the transport service), charged to the municipal budget, and has 4 monitors from the company Diloa and a coordinator, as well as technicians / educators of the Department of Social Welfare, who develop supervisory and monitoring functions.
The menus prepared for the dining room respect cultural diversity, and minors who present intolerances and special needs will be cared for according to these situations.
The hiring contemplates ethical and environmental criteria that include ecological foods directed to the best nutrition of the minors.
In addition, during the month of August, at the El Romeral Municipal Sports Center, there will be complementary activities (since there are few resources left that month in the municipality), aimed at providing minors with an educational, sports and social integration space.
