The 50th edition of the Molina de Segura International Theater Festival, organized by the City of Molina de Segura, with the sponsorship of Estrella de Levante, La Verdad, 7 Television Region of Murcia, Molina Hospital, Auxiliary Conservera and La Opinion, will count This year with a total of 22 shows, eight of the room and fourteen of the street, and a round table.
The festival has been presented at a press conference, today Thursday, July 25, on the stage of the Villa de Molina Theater, by the Mayor of the town, Esther Clavero Mira, the Councilor for Culture, Soledad Nortes Navarro, and the new Director of the Festival, Juan Francisco García Saorín.
In addition, this same afternoon of Thursday, July 25, at 8:00 p.m., in the Hall B of the Villa de Molina Theater, the public presentation of the Festival will take place, with representation of the Differences show, by students of the High School of Dramatic Art of Murcia (ESAD) and the performance of DJ No Typical Sound.
The Mayor of the town, Esther Clavero Mira, the Councilor for Culture, Soledad Nortes Navarro, and the new Director of the Festival, Juan Francisco García Saorín, attend.
During this act, recognition will be given to those who have been directors of the Molina de Segura Theater Festival, with the delivery of distinctions.
The International Theater Festival of Molina de Segura commemorates this year its 50th ANNIVERSARY and does so with the motto MUCHA MIERDA.
It is a theatrical event characterized by the innovation and artistic and technical quality of the companies, groups and shows that throughout their long trajectory have passed through their diverse scenarios.
In its 50 years, the Festival has contributed to the preservation and dissemination of the theatrical and circus landscape of our country without forgetting dance and music and the creation and theatrical innovation has been promoted based on producing certain shows.
The Molina Theater Festival was born in 1970 as a New Theater Cycle, at the initiative of the Experimental Theater Group of Molina (ATEM Group), coming to fill an existing void in this section and serving as a cultural, artistic and vindictive platform.
He was born modestly, when the Spanish political airs were making changes that, although still distant and shy, could already be intuited and allowed certain respites for young people to gather and launch initiatives around the theater.
In its first editions it was this youth initiative around the theater groups of the municipality who assumed the organization of the festivals.
It is in 1982 when it happens to be carried out and organized by the City of Molina de Segura, changing its original designation of Cycle for the Festival and, two years later, it is entrusted to the Municipal Theater Board, with the drafting of statutes that they confer to the Festival a structural and programmatic physiognomy very similar to the one presented today.
Likewise, the Villa de Molina Theater, since its inauguration in November 2005, has been a very important reinforcement for the theatrical programming of the municipality, hosting those shows that, within the framework of the Festival, must necessarily be located in a closed space, within the two rooms that it has, offering alternative scenic proposals of a different nature to those addressed in the stable annual programming.
The Molina de Segura International Theater Festival has become a multidisciplinary cultural event, innovative and accessible to all, with national and international artists of recognized prestige;
which aims to surprise the viewer in any corner of the streets of Molina de Segura with representations of the most heterogeneous and fun;
which constitutes a real social and cultural revulsion, bringing the theater closer to children, the elderly and the most disadvantaged social classes and that, today, is supported by a magnificent acceptance of public, criticism and media impact, reinforced by an important recognition at national level throughout its fifty years of existence.
All this manifests a clear and demonstrable social profitability, since the gratuity of many of its activities and the reduced cost of the majority, makes them very well received by the public and can enjoy them in the company of your family and / or friends.
Spectators of any age see the streets, walks, squares and other outdoor spaces, different actions ranging from theater to dance, puppets, clown, circus, music, pyrotechnics, etc.
And all this without any cost.
In addition, this participation, active or passive, results in the acquisition of other audiences for the stable programming of the Villa de Molina Theater.
In recent years, it has opted to match the calendar of some of its performances with the Fiestas de Molina de Segura, which is a clear benefit for the Molinean population as well as for that other that, on the occasion of the festive days, It is usually approached by the municipality.
The Molina de Segura Theater Festival is consolidated as a demonstration with projection throughout the national territory and also, in some way, by the spirit that underlies its international programming, from Europe to Latin America.
This year, on its 50th anniversary, it has been linked even more with the Region of Murcia, including in the programming samples of theatrical artistic projects of regional scope, as well as other disciplines.
"We want to ensure that both the inhabitants of Molina de Segura, as well as the rest of the Region of Murcia, consider our festival as something of their own and necessary, a manifestation that makes them feel proud of belonging and that they include it within the events expected annually The Festival is already part, in some way, of the idiosyncrasy of our people and our Region, "explains the Mayor, Esther Clavero.
The International Theater Festival of Molina de Segura, and especially now that it is celebrating its 50th edition, according to the Councilor for Culture, Soledad Nortes, "will contribute to the territorial balance of the scenic offer in Spain, programming shows from various autonomous communities. In the programming, and in the organization of the entire event, there are two motivating axes: On the one hand, social sensitivity, because it bets on shows that lead the viewer to enjoy and reflect on current and permanent issues of the human essence, trying to attract the group of young people, who must be part of its organization and citizen participation, as a strategy to link the social fabric of our municipality with the theater festival. "
"We will also dedicate a space for reflection on the theater, and the role that theater festivals have played and should play, with professionals and experts. Training and educational dissemination is a strategy that is developed in programming with in order to reach new audiences, "adds Nortes.

As for the price of tickets, discounts of 20%, 30% or 35% (only sale at the Villa de Molina Theater, face-to-face or telephone) will be applied for groups of 12 or more people, over 65, unemployed, family numerous and young people from 15 to 30 years.
The Festival ticket includes nine functions and is priced at 45 euros.
The anticipated sale of show and subscription shows will be made: at the Theater offices, from 09.00 to 14.00, from Monday to Friday, from September 2;
at the Theater box office, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., starting on September 2, and two hours before each performance;

Street shows will be free and without capacity limitation.
