The City of Molina de Segura, through the Municipal Business Office, made an institutional visit on Wednesday, July 24, to meet first hand the Molinense company Cartonajes SAECO SA, located in the Business Area of ​​El Fenazar, together at kilometer 7.5 of the RM-411 Highway from Fortuna to Archena and the company Conservas Sandoval.
The meeting was attended by the Councilor for Economic Promotion and Strategy, José de Haro González, and the head of the Municipal Business Office, Santiago Pastor Palazón, the President of the Business Association, Eloy Jiménez Gambín, and the technical secretary of ASECOM, Cristina Velázquez Rodríguez, who have been attended by entrepreneurs Carlos de Vicente Sandoval, Manager of the company, and Enriqueta de Vicente Sandoval.
The veteran company, belonging to the cardboard manufacturing sector, specializing in corrugated cardboard and packaging for the fruit and vegetable sector of the Region of Murcia, was founded in 1979 by the well-known industrialist and patron of the Moline industry, Juan Vicente Dávalos, from two large sagas of industrialists in the municipality.
In 1979, the Sociedad de Cartón Ondulado, SAECO was created, taking advantage of the facilities of the poor Cooperativa Molinense de Conservas, opened in 1966 on the Alguazas Highway, which was built on a plot of 25,000 m2, 19,000 of them built.
The company was born by Juan Vicente Dávalos, born in 1934, who had been mayor of the municipality from 1964 to 1967. His previous experiences in Carmosa and Plastimol guarantee him.
It is currently the first cartonage society in the Region and one of the first in the southeast of Spain and has its headquarters since 2009 in the hamlet of El Fenazar.
With facilities of 120,000 m2, of which 38,000 m2 are built.
In 1990 it reached 3,000 million pesetas (18 million euros) of sales with 80 workers, and in 2001 it reached 4,870 million (29.3 million euros).
In 2008 it produced about 55,000 tons of cardboard, which is 90 million m2 of plates, invoicing 30 million euros, with the help of a staff of more than 100 people.
Today it produces 70,000 tons of paper in a complete manufacture from the paper reel to the box formed, assuming 110 million m2 of cardboard, which accounts for 2.7% of all cardboard manufactured in Spain.
The increase in the consumption of cardboard is clear, being more ecological, light and economical than other materials such as plastic, also registering one of the highest rates in Europe in recycled cardboard and paper.
This year marks 4 decades of impeccable trajectory, offering regular and qualified employment to 120 employees in three shifts, and generating sales of 55 million euros in 2018, becoming one of the main industrial companies in the Region of Murcia.
Equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including a unique corrugating machine, with a production capacity of 300 million agricultural containers, one fifth of those manufactured throughout the country, being the tenth operator in the Spanish market.
The environmental policy and safety at work, together with the special care in the completion of the manufactured product, prevail as requirements of the macro company.

The fruit and vegetable sector is of vital importance.
In collaboration with UPCT, it has developed Newfresh, a cardboard box with antimicrobial and antioxidant effects that extends the shelf life of fruits and vegetables by more than 30%.
Currently working for sectors such as food, textiles, plastic, publishing, removals, sweets or chemistry, through plates, boxes for industry, fruit and vegetable boxes and die cut, in trays, plates and pack.
The firm actively works in R&D through the CDTI, UMU, UPCT and other entities.
His awards are many: Mercury Award in 1995 and 2009, Inheritance in 2008, and the II Prize for Applied Research 2012 PRIAE.
The City of Molina de Segura has offered the firm the comprehensive services of the Business Office, municipal business service.
Likewise, he has provided help and advice to finish urbanizing the industrial sector where he is located, there has been talk of the IAE tax, the missing infrastructure or his demand for specialized personnel.
The session wants to commemorate its anniversary through the new denomination that will have its vial, baptized as Juan Vicente Dávalos Street.
Finally, the City Council has given the company a small commemorative detail of the Business Office, through José de Haro, as thanks to such a successful business career in pursuit of our municipality and our Region.
The City of Molina de Segura wants to congratulate SAECO on its 40th anniversary, and wishes to make clear its pride for hosting in its term an industry of such economic and social value, recalling the great effort involved in moving to its current location.
