The Local Government Board, meeting in an extraordinary and urgent session, today Saturday, September 14, has approved the request for the declaration of Molina de Segura as a catastrophic zone and the implementation of a care service for those affected, as a result of the episode cold drop occurred in the municipality on September 12 and 13, which have caused emergencies and catastrophic nature that have substantially altered the living conditions of the population and caused serious personal and material damage, both in private property and in public goods, facilities and services, as well as farms and municipal infrastructure.
A situation that determines the need to adopt the declaration of an area seriously affected by a civil protection emergency, which is commonly known as a "catastrophic zone".
The petition is made under Law 17/2015, of July 9, of the National Civil Protection System, which provides, when an emergency occurs whose magnitude requires for its recovery the intervention of the General State Administration, will be applied the measures included in its chapter V, prior declaration of the same in accordance with the procedure provided for in article 23. In turn, article 24 of the aforementioned legal text includes the list of measures that may be taken when the said declaration is produced, in the terms approved by the Council of Ministers, in order to be able to request the necessary and adequate aid and subsidies for the repair in the shortest possible time the damages caused.
As announced by the Mayor of Molina de Segura, Esther Clavero Mira, "right now the municipal technicians of the different departments are working on the evaluation and assessment of damages and in the preparation of technical reports that will be sent to the competent Administration."
Esther Clavero has previously accompanied the Minister of Agriculture, Luis Planas, in his visit to the affected areas, and thanked "the enormous effort and work of municipal employees, Local Police, Civil Protection, Firefighters, Red Cross, municipal workers, etc. Luckily, in our municipality it has not been necessary to regret serious personal damages, thanks to the magnificent prevention work carried out in the hours before the heavy rains and evacuation during them. "
On the other hand, the Governing Board has also approved the start-up of a municipal information and guidance service for the affected neighbors.
