The act of signing the collaboration agreement between the City of Molina de Segura and Caritas Diocesana de Murcia Cáritas Interparroquial de Molina de Segura for a reception project, basic care and social support for people in situations of serious social exclusion and / or vulnerability has had place today Wednesday, September 25, in the Molinense town hall.
The Mayor of the town, Esther Clavero Mira, the Secretary General of Diocesan Caritas of Cartagena, Juan Antonio Illán Frutos, and the Councilor for Social Welfare, Ángel Navarro García, attended.
The agreement includes a municipal grant for a total amount of 60,000 euros for this year 2019. The objectives of this agreement are:
Provide people and families in situations of extreme vulnerability to cover basic needs due to material poverty.
Attention to those people who, due to a social emergency situation, urgently need support in food, health, housing, education, transportation and / or personal and family documentation.
As explained by the Councilor for Social Welfare, "with the signing of this agreement, economic support is maintained for an entity such as Caritas with a long history of time developing actions to cover basic needs of the most disadvantaged. The entity attended in 2018 to a total of 1,668 people, differentiated by sex in 913 women and 755 men, highlighting, by groups, immigrants, homeless people, women and children.There is immediate attention when a person in a time of emergency or an event occurs as required , complemented the performance of the Municipal Social Services ".
A technical and institutional collaboration is established between the professionals of the Department of Social Welfare and Caritas for those cases that, due to social situation or their special vulnerability, require a joint intervention based on technical criteria.
The beneficiaries of the project are:
Long-term unemployed, recently unemployed or from low-skilled jobs who, due to lack of income or because they receive benefits, cannot cover basic needs, and mostly have minors.
Immigrant population, bystanders or other groups of the municipality in a situation of social exclusion.
Single-parent families, with family charges, generally not shared.
People with a history of hostels or street life.
The project is part of the Emergency Program of Caritas Diocese of Cartagena, which is developed through the network of Parish Caritas Reception to serve the most vulnerable population of the municipality, and consists of the following activities:
Reception and Accompaniment Services: support and listening is carried out, the demand is collected, mostly for hygiene products, clothing, footwear, medicines, housing and supplies, food and children's products.
Economic aids to support the maintenance in the habitual residence and access to basic supplies (electricity, water, rent, etc.).
Distribution of food, clothing and hygiene.
Food Bank.
Opening of the Ropería.
Collection, classification and distribution of clothing and footwear, household equipment, toys ...
Reception and Accompaniment to Homeless People, access to showers, food and urban and interurban transport services.
Itineraries of socio-labor insertion for the acquisition of tools and skills that improve the employability of the participants, accompanied by volunteers.
Payment of administrative fees for documentation of people with scarcity of economic resources.
Cáritas de Molina de Segura is based in Calle Oriente, No. 7 (belongs to the Parish of Ntra. Mrs. of the Assumption) and has a Social Worker and a Voluntary Team in Social Intervention, in which 20 volunteers work .
The Mayor, Esther Clavero, highlighted "the importance and work of volunteers, who show their sensitivity on a daily basis through accompaniment and other tasks with different sectors of the most disadvantaged population."
