Valued at more than 400,000 euros for damages in the business areas of Molina de Segura due to the latest DANA rains (02/10/2019)

The City of Molina de Segura, through the Municipal Business Office, informs that the damages produced in the business areas of the municipality due to the last rains of the DANA are valued at more than 400,000 euros.

Torrential rains and subsequent avenues affected several Molinense business parks, and nearby infrastructure.

The DANA phenomenon passed through the Region of Murcia and recorded significant rainfall, causing great damage to all types of public and private infrastructure and constructions.

Only in the municipality of Molina de Segura, on September 12 and 13, more than 200 liters per square meter fell, pouring an amount of water equivalent to that spent by the municipality for 6 and a half years.

According to own estimates, the collected water volume approached 35 cubic hectometers in Molina de Segura, corresponding, for example, to the entire capacity of the Santomera swamp, or the equivalent to the total relief irrigation that the Tajo Segura Transfer usually sends in Summer to the Region.

These torrential precipitations, which occurred in a few hours, produced a long series of damage, damage and destruction in many areas of the term, essentially in the country roads, in the industrial areas and in the traditional garden.

In rural roads there have been damages such as land dragging, asphalt detachment, fencing dumps and slope destruction;

several sections of sewage collectors from different areas of the term were broken.

The Molina orchard was flooded by the exit of the Segura River from its channel, despite the existence of the high spots built after the flood of 1987, which have been discarded in many sections of the riverbank until it drains into the Molinense orchards.

Dozens of homes and buildings have been razed and many useless, leaving a total of 5,000 tahullas in the garden in El Llano de Molina, Huerta de Abajo and Huerta de Arriba, La Arboleja, El Barranco, Balsa del Lino, La Torrealta and La Ribera from Molina.

Even the metal bridge that connected the city with El Paraje de Alguazas has become unusable, due to the progressive accumulation of 400 linear meters of reeds of reeds, which were placed below with the pressure of the water, and prying until it was dislodged from its site.

But in the business areas, its surroundings and its accesses, there have also been significant damages, with an estimated valuation of 419,500 euros, whose report has been sent to the regional authorities for inclusion in the provision of aid to local authorities through the Emergency Decree approved by the Government of Spain.

Among the consequences observed are: the dump of 40 linear meters of metal fence on prefabricated concrete wall, in the northern perimeter wall of Ciudad del Transporte;

devastated 97 linear meters of west and south perimeter wall, composed of a height of three precast concrete blocks and upper metal valley;

landslide in 20 linear meters of wall, and sinking of the road in Calle Las Torres de Cotillas of La Polvorista Sur;

landslides from slopes and sludge accumulation in several vials of the industrial areas of Molina de Segura;

global destruction of road and firm 700 linear meters of the layout of the Carretera de Campotéjar, at the height of the polygon La Estrella;

detachment and cracking of firm and bumpy appearance in several vials of the industrial areas of Molina de Segura, with a total of approximately 27,000 square meters.

The actions planned for the settlement and solution of these damages, which is stated in the report that the Municipal Business Office has written after the thorough inspection of the areas are: the placement of fences, the construction of block walls and reinforced concrete , the milling and asphalting of roads, the collection of land and street cleaning, the reconstruction of the platform, the replacement of gravel and paving of firm with asphalt.

The City of Molina de Segura expects to obtain the necessary aid for the infrastructural standardization and adaptation of the damaged areas, in order to proceed with the numerous pertinent arrangements.

The Business Office will remain very aware of the news in this regard, in order to restore the affected areas and not alter the normal functioning of the business areas of Molina de Segura.
