The City Council, as a preventive measure, will distribute 5,000 condoms on Sunday, December 1 World AIDS Day (29/11/2019)

The City of Molina de Segura, on the occasion of the commemoration, next Sunday, December 1, of World AIDS Day, will carry out various informative and informative actions, among which the distribution, in the municipal sports facilities, of 5,000 condoms to athletes from different disciplines, from youth, and to the general public.

This distribution, through the Department of Sports and Health, will be carried out in the three pavilions, soccer fields and swimming pool of the Sports City, the Serrerías, Francisco de Goya and Antonio Peñalver pavilions, Sánchez Cánovas Stadium and Soccer Field from Altorreal.

Likewise, this Day will be given visibility by displaying allusive banners outside and inside the Serrerías Pavilion.

World AIDS Day is a great opportunity to support global efforts to prevent new HIV infections, raise awareness and knowledge about this virus and support HIV-positive people, according to the motto that appears on the poster of this year "Kissing, understanding, loving, enjoying, touching, living together, does not transmit HIV. It transmits Respect."

The "infoSIDA" website reports that since World AIDS Day began to be commemorated more than 30 years ago, the progress in the prevention and treatment of HIV infection has been extraordinary.

There are medicines to fight it that help HIV-positive people have a long, healthy life and prevent the transmission of the virus.

In addition, there are effective methods of infection prevention, including pre-exposure prophylaxis (Pr EP) and post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP).

The City of Molina de Segura, taking into account that the consistories constitute a privileged environment for carrying out activities aimed at improving the level of knowledge about HIV / AIDS infection and fostering positive attitudes towards affected people, adheres to the recommendations from the scientific community and other institutions to prevent it:

Use the condom in sexual intercourse.

Do not share objects that may be contaminated with blood: syringes, needles, razors, tattoo needles, piercings, toothbrushes ...

Remember that the virus is found in both blood and semen, pre-seminal fluid, vaginal secretions and breast milk.

Getting tested if it has never been done, knowing it in time will allow access to treatment that prevents the onset of the disease in people who have already been infected with the virus, and prevents transmission to other people without knowing it.

Recommend the couple to do it too.

The external appearance or being well, does not guarantee to be free of the virus, since it takes several years to appear.

Use to receive more information in this regard, the toll free information on AIDS and STIs, 900 706 706.

The adoption of preventive measures in sexual relations and having good information about HIV and other STIs, about their prevention and transmission mechanisms, being something necessary, is not enough, so the Department of Sports and Health, has developed a "Sexual Affective Education Program", aimed at the citizens of Molina de Segura, approved in the Participatory Budgets in 2019, constituting a fundamental tool for health promotion, by treating sexuality in full: from affection and self-esteem, passing for respect and equality, even sexual health and diversity.

The City of Molina de Segura wants to remember the importance of PREVENTION, the PREVENTIVE DIAGNOSIS and the NON-DISCRIMINATION of the people affected by this social and health problem, being the responsibility of the whole society respecting the fundamental rights and diversity of people affected.
