The City of Molina de Segura and the Spanish Red Cross have signed a collaboration agreement for a project of urgently needed aid and relief and emergencies, as reported by the Councilor for Social Welfare, Angel Navarro Garcia.
The agreement includes a municipal grant of 39,000 euros, destined both to social intervention programs to cover the needs of disadvantaged groups and to the Relief and Emergency program that acts quickly and efficiently in catastrophe situations such as those that have recently occurred.
The agreement pursues the fulfillment of the following objectives:
- In the area of ​​Social Intervention: improve the living conditions of the people and families of Molina de Segura in a situation of extreme vulnerability and with a low level of economic income, and facilitate that people in situations of material poverty maintain adequate minimum conditions with support in the coverage of basic needs (rent, supplies, electricity, pharmacy, optics and small appliances).
The actions to be performed are:
Processing of financial aid for urgent attention to basic needs and prevention of residential exclusion to cover expenses of a social emergency situation arising from the crisis for the concepts of: rent, electricity supply, pharmacy, food vouchers.
Food Distribution: Help for the most disadvantaged (FEAD 2014-2020).
The distribution of food is carried out by the entity 3 times a year for those families at social risk due to lack of income.
Provide children's food to families in the municipality with a shortage of economic resources and children under their care.
- In the area of ​​Relief and Emergency: provide health care to people who participate in sports, cultural and social events to prevent and relieve human suffering, maintaining adequate response times within the event;
and make the first assistance and travel to a health center useful to sick, injured or for other health reasons in vehicles specially equipped for this purpose (activities are coordinated with those carried out with the Civil Protection services of the municipality):
Preventive services, urgent health transport and intervention in emergencies and ERIE programs.
The recipients of the project presented by the Red Cross are people in a situation of extreme vulnerability registered in the municipality with lack of economic income for the basic needs of daily life.
Likewise, through the agreement, coverage is given to the general population of Molina de Segura, recipient of the preventive services and / or the activities carried out in an emergency situation by the Relief and Emergency Department.
During the past year 2018, the beneficiaries of financial aid of the projects presented by the entity have been 736, and of the food distribution, 621.
The agreement includes a social clause that includes the commitment on the part of the entity that, in case of having to fill jobs, the Socio-Labor Insertion Exchange of the Department of Policies for Training and Labor Insertion of the City Council will be taken into account of Molina de Segura, destined to favor the integration in the labor market of unemployed people of the municipality.
Red Cross has its headquarters in Avenida de la Industria, s / n, in the old RENFE station, and has 1 Social Intervention Technician, 1 Emergency Relief Technician, Social Intervention Volunteer Team and Volunteer Team for this project. in Relief and Emergency.
Finally, the transfer made by the City Council to said entity of a plot of 1,500 m2 in La Serreta Industrial Estate is set forth in the agreement, to be assigned as the Red Cross Emergency Logistics Center.
It also collaborates with the entity in other programs developed by the Red Cross outside this agreement, such as volunteering, with the reservation of places for cases derived from Social Services in playroom, which develops with children from 5 to 12 years in a situation of special difficulty.
