On Saturday, November 30, the Department of Environment of the City of Molina de Segura closed the activities of the Environmental Volunteering Program, Volunteers @ Naturally !, with a planting activity in which 35 volunteers were involved to recover the riverside forest in the hamlet of La Ribera de Molina.
Volunteers of the environmental volunteer program and the Association of residents of La Ribera planted around 120 specimens of native species such as elm, white poplar, ash or oleander.
This activity has served as a climax to a year of volunteer collaboration in the environmental improvement of the municipality.
At the end of this year, the program has 105 people registered.
Eight activities have been developed, in which volunteers have been involved in actions in natural areas, such as the study and monitoring of wildlife and plantations in the Vicente Blanes Ecological Park and its surroundings, maintenance and conditioning of trails in Las Lagunas de Campotéjar, diagnosis of the situation of the Green Corridor La Fuente, the study of tree heritage, conditioning of El Soto de la Hijuela after the effects of the cold drop, or the plantation carried out in this last activity on the banks of the Segura River in La Ribera de Molina.
In the urban environment, the identification of native species in the green areas of Molina de Segura has been carried out.
The Environmental Volunteer Program Volunteers Naturally!
He has also carried out dissemination and recruitment actions at the University of Murcia, within the celebration of Biology Week or the Associations Fair.
In the dissemination and recruitment activities, about 200 people have been informed.
Voluntary actions have also been developed in collaboration with associations and citizen groups.
The Councilor for the Environment, Mariano Vicente Albaladejo, points out that "Molina, Voluntari @ s Naturally has established itself as a real alternative of citizen participation in the improvement and conservation of the environment of our town. I thank all the volunteers who have participated in this program, its involvement and contribution to the dissemination of the environmental values ​​of the municipality and its selfless collaboration in each of the proposed activities.I also want to thank the initiative of associations and citizen groups that, like the Association of Neighbors of La Ribera de Molina, have shown their commitment to the environmental improvement of their environment ".
At the beginning of 2020, the activities of the environmental volunteer program will be resumed with a new program, which will take place on the last Saturday of each month, aimed at all those over 14 years of age interested in the conservation of natural spaces and in the improvement of municipality.
