The City of Molina de Segura opens to the public the new Central Garden of the La Quinta urbanization, after an investment of 240,000 euros (12/12/2019)

The City of Molina de Segura, through the Department of Public Roads, Municipal Works and Infrastructure, has completed the completion of the Central Garden of the La Quinta Urbanization, which opens to the public today, Thursday, December 12, with an investment of 240,000 euros, financed from the municipal budget.

The opening hours of the garden are from 06.00 to 23.00.

The garden had been partially urbanized by the developer of the urbanization, but it still did not meet the necessary conditions for its opening to the public.

Before the inaction of the developer of the urbanization, and since the residents of the urbanization have demanded its commissioning, the City of Molina de Segura has decided to execute a part of the deposited guarantees as a guarantee of completion of the urbanization works with the in order to complete the urbanization of the aforementioned free space and put it into service by opening it to the public.

In addition, given that there were some deficiencies in the vials around the garden, which needed timely arrangements, it has also been carried out with charge to the deposited guarantees.

Outside the garden, in the surrounding roads, some specific arrangements have been made, mainly: joint and spot arrangements on paving stones on sidewalks and parking lots, and attached curbs;

sealing of cracks in asphalt;

and leveling and flushing of registration and cleaning caps.

The actions carried out in the garden have been, mainly:

Arrangements, adaptation and tuning of existing elements in the garden, with clearing and surface cleaning of the land in areas where new plantations have been made, as well as in the pedestrian promenade, playgrounds, stretches and sandboxes, and in the lookout.

On the pedestrian promenade, a flush and refining of the crowning surface of the pool has been carried out, and several sections of concrete ditch and cobblestones have been executed to guarantee the correct evacuation of runoff in rainy episodes, preventing them from damaging the own way.

The perimeter metal railing of the garden has been treated with a double coat of synthetic enamel paint, on a hand of a mineral or antioxidant primer, prior scratching or pre-sanding of the oxides and manual cleaning.

It has also proceeded to review the anchors to the floor of the fence and make specific arrangements.

The adjustment of existing urban furniture (benches, wastebaskets, children's and biosaludables games, stretching and gymnastics elements) has been carried out, including the verification of its fixation to the ground, repainting of damaged points, checking the operation of the mobile elements, oil application, small repairs and repair or replacement of parts.

It has also been carried out the verification of existing public lighting installations, including tests and quality control (OCA), small arrangements in boxes, covers, columns, luminaires and electrical circuits.

Complementation of street furniture and garden equipment.

In order to provide the garden with street furniture and equipment appropriate to its dimensions, and in accordance with the proposals made by the neighborhood representatives, elements of street furniture and equipment that complement existing ones have been implemented.

Informative posters with an outline of the zones and itineraries have been placed in the two main entrances of the garden.

Inside the garden, signs indicating the type of vegetation in each area have been placed.

New benches and litter bins have been placed, which complement the existing ones, as well as five new children's games, which include 3 sets, a string set and a zip line.

Rubber protective pavement has been arranged in falls in these areas.

Fixed concrete tables and benches have been placed in the planned picnic area next to the plantation of carrascos and mulberry pines, and vandal-proof pin-pong tables have been located.

A mini concrete sports track with surface treatment has also been executed, surrounded by a fence and perimeter network to prevent the exit of balls, and equipped with goals and baskets.

Finally, an area of ​​stay and recreation of domestic animals has been executed, duly signposted and fenced, which has a pet fountain, a bin with a bag dispenser, and several elements for the recreation of animals: palisade, jump height, wheel and table.

Complementation of vegetation and tree species in the garden.

In the garden there was some vegetation, mainly cypresses and olive groves, but there were many invaded areas of weeds.

There was also an irrigation network in operation in a precarious way, which has undergone a complete renovation and adaptation.

Planting of plant species that follow the characteristics of a Mediterranean garden has been carried out, with native flora, adapted to the Mediterranean climate, resistant to high temperatures in summer and, at the same time, very hard and resistant to droughts and wet and cold winters , and that also needs little water and presents a great variety of plants.

The most important elements of a Mediterranean garden are the lush trees and flowers and plants of bright colors and very aromatic, since the aroma and color are two essential elements of a Mediterranean garden.

The species that have been located in the Mediterranean garden are: rosemary, lavender, thyme, carob, olive, cypress, pine and carrascos, almond, lemon, orange, mandarin, plum, jara, lentiscos, junipers, black thorns, bayones, myrtle, sage, poleos, santolinas, mints, melissa, oregano, incense, pomegranates, fig trees, mulberry trees, strawberry trees, poplars, elms, ash trees and clams.
