The Molina de Segura City Council and the local Immigration Platform have signed an agreement for the Immigrant Assistance and Information Office program, as reported by the First Deputy Mayor and Councilor for Social Welfare, Ángel Navarro García.
The agreement contemplates a municipal grant for a total amount of 30,000 euros for this year 2019, and has among its objectives:
Offer a support service for the social integration of the immigrant collective resident in the municipality through the Immigrant Assistance Office.
Support the Municipal Social Services Center in the translation / interpretation demands that may be required.
Address and reduce possible intercultural conflicts in the municipality.
To favor a good coexistence between the different members of the educational community through the figure of an intercultural mediator.
The Immigration Platform of Molina de Segura undertakes to carry out the following actions:
Service of an interpreter-translator with training in family, school and neighborhood mediation.
Attention and support to immigrants in administrative procedures or procedures.
Interpretation of documents for those immigrants, with special attention to the Arab population, with no or low level of Castilian.
Translation of printed matter, brochures and any information or dissemination document with special interest to the foreign community (Arabic, French and other African languages).
Immigrant Literacy Workshop.
Spanish and nationality classes.
Celebration of parties, Immigrant Day, awareness and prevention campaigns, etc.
The Immigrant Assistance and Information Office is located in Avenida de Madrid, n ° 68 of Molina de Segura, next to the La Cerámica Integral Center.
For the development of its activities, it has a translator / interpreter, with knowledge of French, Arabic and other African languages ​​and training in intercultural mediation, as well as volunteers of the entity.
The Immigration Platform of Molina de Segura has been collaborating through successive agreements with the Molinense City Council, within this project aimed at the immigrant collective to promote social integration in the municipality.
The agreement includes the commitment of the entity to take into account the Social and Labor Insertion Exchange of the City of Molina de Segura, aimed at promoting the integration into the labor market of unemployed people in the municipality.
During the year 2019, the Office is expected to serve almost 5,000 people through competency reinforcement activities towards women and empowerment, translator / interpreter service, intercultural mediation, information and administrative attention.
With this, the importance and need to become aware to carry out actions towards social integration and awareness of the immigrant group in the municipality is visualized.
