The Department of Social Welfare of the City of Molina de Segura closes a sewing and customer service course within the project Walks between fabrics (18/12/2019)

The closing ceremony and delivery of diplomas of the sewing and customer service course, project Walk between fabrics, promoted by the Department of Social Welfare and taught by the Abraham Project Association, took place today Wednesday December 18, in the Hall of Plenary sessions of the City Council.

The First Deputy Mayor and Councilor for Social Welfare, Ángel Navarro García, has attended.

The Department of Social Welfare, within the Program for Employability, has promoted this initiative, included in the Project Walks between fabrics, based on a personalized itinerary of insertion, which accompanies people in situations of social vulnerability in their passage to ordinary labor market, thus achieving its social insertion.

The objectives of this initiative are: to improve the personal and social skills necessary to enter the labor market;

improve specific job training adapted to the characteristics of the participants and the needs of the labor market in the professional textile, clothing and leather family;

and develop an accompaniment and follow-up process aimed at the person and their social and work needs.

This accredited training course, taught by the Abraham Project Association and funded by the Ministry of Health, Consumption and Social Welfare, has been developed from October 10 to December 3, 2019, Monday through Friday, from 09.30 to 13.30 hours, in the Las Balsas Center, for Skills for Labor Insertion and Customer Service, and in the Senior Unit, for textile training.

12 people have participated, who are currently developing the internship at the two headquarters of Atelier El Costurerico, located in Puente Tocinos and IKEA, and in the Carbonell company, fashion section, in Molina de Segura.

The course is aimed at citizens of the municipality of working age without other age or gender bias.

These are people attended from the Department of Social Welfare and selected by their reference professionals, as well as other entities of the third sector of the municipality, being aspects valued by professionals: long-term unemployed people and with difficulty for accredited labor insertion;

low / medium employability;

and low qualification and basic studies.

Walk between fabrics includes:

1. Pre-work skills: (40 hours).

2. Occupational training: Sewing and repair of garments (40 hours) and Customer Service (40 hours).

3. Non-work practices: 80 hours.

4. Labor Orientation: group and individual labor orientation.

5. Psychosocial care: comprehensive support to the participants through which coordination with Social Services or other necessary related resources will be improved.

6. Employment Exchange: inclusion in the employment exchange of Abraham Project Association of people with textile-clothing work profile who are actively searching for employment.

This punctual activity is framed within the actions that the Department of Social Welfare develops for groups with low employability.

Participants have been referred by the Social Services, third sector and employment resources existing in the municipality.

Social exclusion is a multidimensional phenomenon that prevents individuals from fully participating in societies.

The accumulation of certain factors along the personal and vital trajectory (family ruptures, dependency situations, migrations ...), also marked by the current difficulties of the labor market and the insufficiency of economic income, have been determining factors for the existence of groups in a situation of exclusion or social vulnerability.

From these approaches, the City of Molina de Segura joins the legislative and technical guidelines to promote actions to protect and strengthen the employment of these people.

And it does so with action projects such as Walks between fabrics, which serve as an inclusive tool and as an axis of intervention in a process of recovery and accompaniment towards personal autonomy.
