The City Council approves the payment of invoices in the amount of 842,075.14 euros to face emergency expenses caused by damages of the DANA of September (18/12/2019)

The Board of Local Government of the City of Molina de Segura, at the ordinary meeting held yesterday Tuesday, December 17, has approved the list of bills for emergency expenses for damages of the DANA in the amount of 842,075.14 euros.

This first consignment of invoices corresponds to the payment to the suppliers and contractors of works that provided their services in the affected areas of the municipality of Molina de Segura during the days of the serious floods caused by the DANA last September, and to restore the infrastructure damaged by the rains and the overflow of the Segura River and the ramblas.

Among the works carried out, the following stand out: emergency actions to restore services, for an amount of 450,105.05 euros, the removal of sludge and containers, street cleaning, waste treatment to landfill or the removal of dead animals, and urgently needed aid, aimed at giving immediate response to lack of accommodation, food, household goods and other basic needs of the affected people.

"The City of Molina de Segura thanks the construction and services companies, mostly local, that provided their support during the weekend of the DANA, for the interest and effort applied to help their neighbors and thus mitigate the impact of those who suffered serious material losses and even the eviction of their homes, "said First Deputy Mayor and Spokesman of the Local Government Board, Ángel Navarro García.

The municipal Public Road, Civil Protection and Local Police services, social services and also the municipal company SERCOMOSA, have been recognized for their great work during and after DANA.

Ángel Navarro, reiterates his "thanks to all the neighbors who, in a disinterested way, helped in the arduous tasks of cleaning and landing, and transfer of household goods and affected land."

Different associations and companies also contributed with donations and materials.

It also insists on "the duty of collaboration of all Public Administrations, not only the local and state, which are the only ones that have given concrete response, and I appeal to the responsibility of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, which has not provided any fund to date, and that in the next regional budgets does not provide any investment in Molina de Segura, leaving the Molinenses and the fourth municipality of the Region of Murcia, to pay with their own resources all the damages and infrastructure required " .

"The attention to the expenses and repairs for the damages caused by the floods, without a doubt, will generate a reduction of the municipal surplus and, therefore, will cause an impairment in other projects of local interest foreseen by the government. We must still address projects and works to completely restore the pre-flood situation, quantified at 6 million euros, as well as for the adoption of measures that prevent extraordinary rain situations from causing a catastrophic situation like the one experienced, "concludes Navarro.
