The Molina de Segura City Council subsidizes a refugee support project developed by the PAREM association (19/12/2019)

The Local Government Board of the City of Molina de Segura approved last Tuesday, December 17, the granting of grants to support projects for refugees 2019. The grant, for an amount of 30,000 euros, has been granted to the Project to support people refugees

Housing and Sensitization, promoted by the PAREM Association, and which was presented at a press conference today, Thursday, December 19, at the Molinense session, by the Councilor for Development Cooperation and Solidarity, Mariano Vicente Albaladejo, the President of PAREM, Adriana Mercedes Trafonsky, and the PAREM Technician, Begoña Iriarte.

PAREM launches a project with two fundamental programs for the inclusion of refugees: one of sensitization, through workshops in various cultural, school, social centers, etc., making the population of Molina de Segura and its social entities active agents of the project;

and another of housing, with the management of a temporary residence for refugees in vulnerable situations.

The general objectives of PAREM are:

Promote the inclusion of refugees and migrants from the Region of Murcia.

To inform, educate and sensitize civil society about the contexts (past and present) of refugees, as well as to offer keys embedded in intercultural paradigms to build a social fabric that is more prone to inclusive and meaningful interaction.

Channel and strengthen the social support and solidarity of the citizens of the Region of Murcia towards refugees.

Include citizens in the project as main actress.

The awareness program is launched through workshops in which a tour is made from the beginning of PAREM (as well as the presence of refugees in the Region) and its objectives, functions and ongoing projects.

In this sense, the project seeks to bring the population of Molina de Segura closer to the initiatives that PAREM develops to encourage and arouse citizen participation and vocation in favor of inclusion.

It is also key to address basic theoretical concepts within forced migration with their corresponding terminological distinctions, and expose the history of international protection and the fundamental characteristics of the asylum program in Europe and in Spain.
