The City of Molina de Segura, through the departments of Public Road and Participatory Budgets, has made an investment of 9,716.30 euros in the refurbishment works of the La Molinera Passage, and another investment of 18,064.95 euros in the installation of pedestrian crossings illuminated in conflict points of the urban area, both projects carried out through the Participatory Budgeting processes 2017 and 2018.

The Second Deputy Mayor and Councilor for Public Road, Fuensanta Martínez Jiménez, and the Councilor for Traffic, Julia Fernández Castro, visited the two projects on Tuesday, March 3.

Within the Participatory Budgeting process, the neighbors requested the installation of pedestrian traffic lights in C / San Juan, C / Mayor with C / Ancha and Avenida de Granada to improve road safety.

The Local Police advised against the installation of these traffic lights, and from there the idea of ​​the technicians to install the marking of the zebra crossings started.

It is a new system and is not installed in virtually any other place in Spain.

It is an LED beacon on both sides of the crosswalk, which also has a pedestrian detection system incorporated, so when you are going to cross the two LED strips are flashing for 30 seconds and then It turns off again.

The system is powered by the power grid, so it works both day and night.

The cost of these works has been 18,064.95 euros.

Regarding the conditioning of the Molinera Passage, this Participatory Budgeting action has consisted of the removal of all the aluminum slats from the ceiling that, together with the street lighting, were totally damaged (there was practically no lighting) and in the execution of a surface treatment of mortar and reboco on the roof and the protection of downpipes with metallic elements.

For the improvement of the lighting, 5 LED type projectors have been installed, leaving two of them on so that there is always lighting in the passage.

The works have been executed by the company ESM Estudios y Mantenimiento, with a municipal investment of 9,716.30 euros.
