The Department of Social Welfare of Molina de Segura guarantees the care of 338 elderly people and people with disabilities through Home Help, Telecare, Meals at Home and Family Breathing during the state of alarm (08/04/2020)

The Department of Social Welfare of the City of Molina de Segura has redoubled its efforts and resources during the State of Alarm period to meet the needs of people in vulnerable situations, turning especially to the elderly and dependents, who are the most Support must have at this time, as explained, today Wednesday April 8, the First Deputy Mayor, Councilor for Social Welfare and spokesman for the Municipal Monitoring Committee of COVID-19 in Molina de Segura, Ángel Navarro García.

In the current State of Alarm, the Department of Social Welfare has guaranteed the care of 338 elderly and disabled people through the municipal services of Home Help, Telecare, Home Meals and Family Respite.

In addition, daily telephone contact is maintained with 18 people who are in a particularly vulnerable situation.

During the confinement, the social workers of the Senior Citizen Service and Unit have made more than 800 follow-up calls to the people who are attended.

Thus, they have been able to satisfy the situations of need raised: medical agenda, management of home purchases, solitude situations, etc.

In addition, 46 dependent people have been served through domestic and personal care services.

It has also proceeded to register 6 new requests for Home Help in municipal services, increasing the number of hours of care for older people and dependents who were being served prior to the Alarm State.

With these actions, the Department of Social Welfare shows its firm decision to offer continuous care and support to the entire population of Molina de Segura during the State of Alarm, being present and acting comprehensively in each and every one of the situations of social need of people affected by the pandemic situation by COVID-19.

"Today the most vulnerable population extends beyond the groups classified as such. For this reason, social services must be fully present in each and every one of the situations of social need of the citizens affected by the exceptional situation where we are, "says Ángel Navarro.
