Molina de Segura, April 13, 2020. The president of the Popular Party, José Ángel Alfonso, affirms that "in these moments of crisis, you cannot do without any worker from the municipal cleaning company, since these workers are currently essential in the tasks of reinforcement and disinfection, especially in areas of maximum affluence such as supermarkets and the areas adjacent to those of health centers, as well as in the cleaning and disinfection of public spaces (public roads and municipal buildings), during the state alarm COVID-19, so they should be relocated and thus cover other needs that the population urgently demands. In conclusion, this ERTE is an unjustified cut by the local government of the PSOE and Podemos of the fundamental services of our city " .
They also disagree with the ways they have used to inform the affected workers, since they also "learned that they were inside an ERTE through a WhatsApp message."
José Ángel Alfonso reports that "while the Government of Spain urges public companies to renounce the possibility of including their workers in an ERTE, the Government Team of the Molina de Segura City Council, formed by the coalition between PSOE and Podemos, proposes an ERTE to the Sercomosa staff that affects more than 50 workers ".
This company is in charge of water management, waste collection, gardening, cleaning and street disinfection in the municipality.
The popular forcefully reject this proposal, since there are other alternatives, and more bearing in mind the current circumstances in which we find ourselves facing the coronavirus pandemic.
José Ángel Alfonso considers that "cleaning and hygiene are, at the moment, the only known weapons or antidotes to fight the coronavirus. Currently, hygiene and disinfection measures are allowing certain groups not to be put at risk, and that the development of their functions is made possible, without putting their health at risk ".
The president of the Popular Party in Molina de Segura, assures that "this is an inadmissible proposal given the coronavirus pandemic that we are suffering, since the affected workers can perform other functions to fight against COVID19, and that they are vital for the people of Molines. "
He also adds that "it is essential to reinforce the cleaning, disinfection and protection of our city. Sercomosa workers included in the ERTE are perfectly qualified to form part of the municipality's special device for this matter, since they belong to the cleaning agreement , for which we urge the current municipal government to immediate rectification. "
José Ángel Alfonso, wanted to end by expressing "his support and recognition to all people from Molino for their responsibility, civility and solidarity in these difficult days for all, as well as the workers and the State Security Forces and Bodies".
He recalled that "the Popular Party of Molina de Segura continues to be at the disposal of the Government Team for whatever it may need."
And he considers that "at the moment, political, social and business unity is a decisive factor in getting out of the current situation as soon as possible."
