Molina de Segura announces the suspension of festive events in districts and urbanizations and of the major events of the 2020 Patron Saint Festival as a preventive measure against COVID-19 (08/05/2020)

| The Mayor has announced the decision today, Friday May 8, and only its celebration would be reactivated if the situation changed and the sanitary recommendations allowed it | The Mayor of Molina de Segura, Esther Clavero Mira, together with councilors and technicians from the different affected areas of the Molinense City Council, has held meetings in recent days with representatives of groups, associations, party commissions and companies related to the organization of festive acts to deal with the suspension of the events planned for the coming months in towns and urbanization parties, as well as the major events of the Patron Saint Festival of the municipality, on the occasion of the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result of this round of contacts, the Mayor has announced, today Friday May 8, that the City of Molina de Segura has decided to suspend festive events in districts and urbanizations and of the major events and concerts of the Patron Saint Festival in 2020 "In the face of current and anticipated circumstances in the coming months, where we must continue to maintain a strict attitude of precaution and prevention in the face of a pandemic outbreak," says Ester Clavero, "the government team has made the decision to look for alternatives and think in different parties, with events that do not bring together a large population at the same time, to avoid fear of new infections that will destroy the magnificent effort made by citizens to contain the expansion of COVID-19 ". The recommendations of the health experts, regarding safety measures, hygiene and social distance, make the celebration of most events unfeasible, especially those scheduled for the coming summer months, for which reason their suspension or cancellation becomes pertinent.

As for the Patron Saint Festivities, scheduled from September 5 to 21, in line with the foregoing, large events and concerts have been suspended, given the reduced capacity of closed venues, as well as the reduction in the number of people allowed in open spaces. As Esther Clavero explains, "we prefer to apply the precautionary principle and be prudent in a scenario that appears uncertain in the coming months, and make decisions as we advance in the fight against COVID-19, adapting ourselves to the possibilities that open up in in terms of capacity, social distances and hygienic-sanitary measures.

" The Government of the Region of Murcia is studying, together with the mayors, to suspend all festive events in the Region until October.
