The City Council hires basic supplies for people who are in a vulnerable situation due to the COVID-19 crisis (29/05/2020)

| The number of people and families served from March 13 to the present time amounts to 1,850, of which 400 are served by first time at the Department of Social Welfare | The Molina de Segura City Council, through the Department of Social Welfare and its Social Work Program, has carried out the contract for the emergency processing of basic supplies for food, hygiene and home cleaning to guarantee attention to the basic needs of people who have needs derived from the COVID-19 crisis and are in a vulnerable situation, as reported, today Friday May 29, the First Deputy Mayor, Councilor for Social Welfare and spokesman for the Municipal Monitoring Committee of the COVID-19 in Molina de Segura, Ángel Navarro García. The contract was approved by the Local Government Board yesterday Thursday, May 28, for a total amount of 181,588.40 euros, and is financed by the Molina de Segura City Council and the Government of Spain, which has allocated extraordinary funding to the municipality for 265,000 euros for social services.

The objective of this initiative is to respond to social needs and insufficient financial resources to cover the most basic needs.

The groups that acquire special importance are family and childhood, immigrants, the elderly, dependents and the sick, and the management of the basic social needs they present contributes to improving the care of the basic needs they present, family dynamics, and reducing levels of anxiety. "The provision of the service indicates Navarro- it is a bet of the Municipal Corporation to improve the quality of life of all the citizens of Molina de Segura, especially of those most vulnerable groups at a social level". Some 23 professionals from the Department of Social Welfare of Molina de Segura have provided support in receiving the demand, evaluating and managing the files: 16 social workers from the Social Work, Family and Minors Program, Prevention and Social Insertion and Service of Attention to Old People and Dependents; and 7 educators from the Family and Minors Program, and Prevention and Social Insertion. The number of people and families attended from March 13 to the present amounts to 1,850.

And, of the total number of people and families served, 400 are served for the first time at the La Cerámica Center, headquarters of the Department of Social Welfare. The total number of files processed to meet basic needs, from March 13 to May 22, amounts to 326, assuming an expense of 71,000 euros, and the total number of scholarships for school canteens to serve children amounts to 239, assuming an expense of 33,000 euros.
