The Community will invest 600,000 euros in repairing eight kilometers of rural roads in Molina de Segura (29/09/2020)

| Minister Luengo highlights the implementation of a package of actions in five municipalities that will allow action on 24 kilometers for an amount of more than 2 million euros | The Minister of Water, Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Environment, Antonio Luengo, today visited the rural roads of the Canal and the surroundings of La Hornera in the municipality of Molina de Segura, to learn about "the adaptation works that they will be carried out in order to improve the state of the road surface, currently in poor condition, and allow the safe transit of vehicles ". The action, which covers a total route of 8.1 kilometers, has a tender budget of around 600,000 euros and an execution period of six months, and the works are scheduled to begin before the end of the year.

Antonio Luengo stressed that the Ministry will carry out works on rural roads in Molina de Segura and other municipalities in the area, such as Ceutí, Alguazas, Las Torres de Cotillas and Cieza, "to repair a total of 24 kilometers of these roads that provide service, basically, to agricultural and livestock farms, with an investment of just over 2 million euros ". The Canal path starts at the Depuradora road, next to the transfer, and has a route of just over 4 kilometers, with an average width of 5 meters.

It has a central section of 1 kilometer, very deteriorated due to the depletion of the pavement, with erosion and detachment of its aggregates, which has caused the presence of potholes in a generalized way. Luengo stressed that "it is a road that provides service to a large number of agricultural and livestock farms, where citrus, lemons, oranges and mandarin plantations stand out, so its repair will mean a notable benefit in the day to day of owners and workers of the area ". The actions will consist of clearing and cleaning the banks and sides of the road; sewer system; demolition of the existing road surface and execution of a new asphalt-based surface layer; implementation of vertical and horizontal signage and implementation of containment systems based on safety barriers. As for the roads around La Hornera, with almost 4.1 kilometers, they start at the Trasvase channel and end at the Hornera road, and have a first section, with a width of 3.5 meters, practically of Earth. The counselor indicated that "it serves many agricultural holdings and the firm is in very poor condition, giving rise to water impoundment, potholes and mud," so a similar action to the previous one will be carried out, with the sole Note that, depending on the kilometer point, a new pavement will be made based on artificial gravel and double asphalt treatment, or the existing pavement will be regularized through a new asphalt agglomerate-based tread.
