The Paseo Rosales de Molina de Segura hosts the exhibition Monumental Sculptures, by Juan Méjica, from October 6, 2020 to January 11, 2021 (05/10/2020)

| The exhibition will be open to the public on Tuesday, October 6, at 12 noon | The exhibition Monumental Sculptures, by Juan Méjica, organized by the Department of Culture of the Molina de Segura City Council, as a result of the collaboration between the Fundación México and the Consistorio Molinense, can be visited from Tuesday, October 6.

Its opening will take place at 12 noon, on Paseo Rosales de Molina de Segura.

The exhibition will remain open to the public until January 11, 2021. Juan Méjica is a renowned Asturian artist with extensive national and international career.

The exhibition includes seven large pieces (almost 4 meters high and 5 tons in weight), and has already been shown with notable success in forty-five Spanish cities, in a traveling exhibition that started in Oviedo at the beginning of 2010.

Between Others have visited Seville, Valladolid, Malaga, Cáceres, Granada, Gijón, Cádiz, Ávila, Huelva, Mérida, Algeciras, León, Burgos, Jaén, Puertollano, San Fernando, Úbeda, Zamora, Fuengirola, Tarragona, Córdoba, Getafe, Toledo , Jerez de la Frontera, Ciudad Real or Badajoz. These Great Street Sculptures reveal some of the most representative three-dimensional pieces of the Mexican Galaxy.

They are sculptures that reinterpret their most recognized motifs in an alloy of steel and copper, such as the bull, the Asturcón, the yew, or the anthropomorphic.

In all cases, works stripped of any accessory element and turned into icons of great expressive power due to their symbolic character and extruded shapes. In short, an exhibition that brings together tradition and avant-garde, figuration and abstraction, through a language as expressive and personal as that of Mexico.

Of course, its imposing presence contributes to the familiarization of citizens with contemporary sculpture ("It is allowed to touch the sculptures", points out the sculptor), as well as to discover the dialogue of the pieces with the urban environment itself.
