The Molina de Segura City Council and the AFESMO association sign an agreement for the development of a social integration project for people with mental health problems (06/10/2020)

| The agreement includes a municipal subsidy of 77,000 euros for this year 2020 | The Molina de Segura City Council and the Molina de Segura and Comarca Mental Health Association (AFESMO) have signed a collaboration agreement for the development of a Social Integration Project for people with mental health problems, as reported by the Councilor for Social Welfare, Ángel Navarro García, today Tuesday, October 6, coinciding with the celebration in the municipality of World Mental Health Day 2020. Precisely this afternoon, at 5:00 p.m., by videoconference, the commemoration ceremony of World Mental Health Day 2020 is held in Molina de Segura, promoted by AFESMO, with a reading of this year's manifesto.

The First Deputy Mayor and Councilor for Social Welfare, Ángel Navarro García, the Vice President and Councilor for Women, Equality, LGTBI, Families and Social Policy of the Region of Murcia, Isabel Franco Sánchez, the General Director of People with Disabilities of the Murcia Region, Conchita Ruiz Caballero, the President of AFESMO, Delia Topham Reguera, and the Vice President of AFESMO, Diego Yepes Bravo. The agreement includes a municipal subsidy of 77,000 euros for the year 2020.

AFESMO is committed to meeting the following objectives: Promote a space so that People with Mental Illness (PEM) in Molina de Segura can achieve the maximum degree of autonomy to lead a normalized life within their own socio-community context. Promote social recovery through access to social, health and labor resources for people with mental health problems in situations of social exclusion or high vulnerability from municipal social services. The recipients are people between 18 and 65 years old, who suffer from a mental illness and who present these two profiles: Those who do not have a recognized degree of dependency.

They are people who enjoy a certain degree of autonomy, and therefore no degree of dependency is recognized, but they need support in their psychosocial rehabilitation process to be able to develop a normal life. Those that do have a degree of dependency to access the services that the entity provides. Ángel Navarro stressed that the signing of this agreement reveals the "importance and awareness that there is on the part of the Molinense City Council of carrying out actions in support of people with mental illness.

A program of care for people with mental illness in a situation of of social exclusion, in coordination with municipal social services, favoring the social insertion of groups with greater difficulty in finding a standardized job through pre-employment scholarships ". AFESMO, through this agreement, develops the following programs: 1.

Program of Attention to People with Mental Health Problems in a situation of High Vulnerability and / or Social Exclusion.

10 scholarships will be provided in pre-employment workshops for an amount of 11,000 euros. 2.

SEPAP Program: Social Club and Children's Youth Talks.

The Department of Social Welfare reserves 4 places for the Social Club at no economic cost. 3.

Integration Program in Day Center and Family Program.

The entity reserves a place in its Day Center for people with mental health problems derived from the Department of Social Welfare, after a technical assessment by professionals and who, free of charge, attend the center.

Includes transportation service and dining room. As a result of the current health crisis caused by COVID-19, the entity has adopted the recommended security measures and protocols, such as closing the day center and workshops, carrying out activities and family orientations online, videos, telephone consultations , etc. The AFESMO Day Center is located at Calle Gregorio Miñano, n ° 52, in Molina de Segura.

The entity has: psychologist, social educator, social worker, social integrator, caregiver-monitor, administrative and cleaning, as well as volunteer personnel. By means of this agreement, the transfer of 35 spaces in the La Compañía public car park to the entity for use and economic benefit is also maintained, which is intended for the social-labor insertion project.

Likewise, it includes the entity's commitment to take into account the City Council's Labor Market Placement to favor the employment of people in situations of social vulnerability. During 2019, more than 150 people in total have been assisted by AFESMO, both direct beneficiaries and family members.
