| People who visit the Park will be able to discover the variety of species vegetables, both aromatic, medicinal and culinary, that grow in this space | The Alto del Rellano Nature Center - Vicente Blanes de Molina de Segura Park opens to the public on Sunday, October 11, at its usual hours, from 10 a.m.

to 2 p.m.

On this occasion the information and visitor reception service invites all those who come to this natural enclave to discover the variety of species of aromatic plants that grow in the mountains of the Region and of which there are numerous examples in Vicente Blanes Park.

For this, specific materials will be made available to make this visit interesting. The Vicente Blanes Natural Park has an arboretum, a small botanical garden formed by an interesting collection of species, in which it is possible to identify some of the main botanical species present in the area, both trees and shrubs.

Among them are many aromatic species, such as thyme, rosemary, black boja, rabogato or yellow immortelle, among others.

These and other species of aromatic plants are frequent in these mountains and their properties have been known for centuries, which is why they have been used in traditional medicine or as a condiment in popular gastronomy dishes. The diversity of aromatic plants present in the Murcian mountains is related to the climate of this area, with hot summers, mild winters and very little rainfall.

To withstand these conditions, plants have developed the production of aromatic oils that allow them to combat water loss. In order to promote the conservation and maintenance of the native plants of the park and other natural areas, it is important to take into account a series of recommendations, such as walking along the paths without leaving them, to avoid trampling specimens.

In addition, it is forbidden to uproot them. In this new opening day, the Councilor for the Environment, Mariano Vicente Albaladejo, wants to highlight "the important botanical biodiversity of the Vicente Blanes Ecological Park, in which there are more than 200 different plant species registered, and the necessary information and awareness-raising that we are doing from the Department so that our neighbors, and visitors from other parts of the Region, know and value the need to conserve our natural spaces and in particular this municipal forest park ".
