Molina Basket will represent Spain in the United Nations of Basketball (02/11/2020)

Molina Basket has become the first sports club in Spain to join the United Nations of Basketball.

This international organization aims to develop players worldwide.

In addition to sports, the UNB (United Nations of Basketball) seeks to use basketball as a point of union between nations in order to promote peace and cooperation. The UNB brings together sports entities from more than 60 countries around the world, including members from Asia, Europe, Africa, America and Oceania.

Its projects focus on promoting actions that promote values ??such as tolerance, respect and understanding between the different cultures of the world; Humanitarian actions are also included, such as the distribution of sports equipment and other aid destined to make the practice of sport possible in more disadvantaged places.Alan Walls, secretary general of the UNB, values ??the incorporation of the Molinense entity very positively, since "the candidacy of Molina Basket had been recommended by several international clubs".

In addition to the notable sporting successes, it has been taken into account for this incorporation the social work of Molina Basket and its projection outside our borders.

In recent years, the Molinenses have organized international events, hosting teams and national teams from different countries.

Added to that is participation in tournaments and campuses abroad, both at the team level and by providing coaches. For his part, Joaquín García Box, president of Molina Basket, celebrates this incorporation because it represents "an international recognition of the history of basketball in Molina de Segura and the work carried out during the last decade from Molina Basket to keep that tradition alive and take it to new horizons.

" For García Box, being part of the UNB represents another "step towards excellence, an especially valuable and emotional step for crystallizing at a time so complicated for everyone by the global pandemic."The integrating project of the UNB connects with the social vocation of the different actions that the Molinense club has implemented within the framework of sport.

Thus, Molina Basket has promoted solidarity activities in collaboration with the Molina de Segura City Council, Cáritas and the Red Cross.

This is joined by teams, such as the One Team MB - made up of boys and girls with neurobiological disorders - or its most recent proposal: a team made up of the mothers of the club's players.Joining the UNB will allow raising this work to a higher level and participating in actions of global scope.

Among the members of this organization there are nations that are a reference in basketball, such as the United States, Puerto Rico, France, Turkey, Italy or New Zealand.

They are joined by representatives from countries as important as India, Japan, the United Kingdom or Mexico, along with other more exotic territories, such as the Bahamas, Tibet, Iceland, Madagascar, Vietnam or Kenya. All UNB projects are built around basketball.

The celebration of international campuses, tournaments, talks or international congresses are some of its main activities.

From now on, the Molina Basket club will be the first member of Spain, assuming the representation of the UNB, as well as the organization and promotion of international events.Molina Basket's last experience abroad was the International Women's Day Tournament, which took place in Derry (United Kingdom) last March.

In that event, held just after the first confinement due to coronavirus, the Molina Basket women's children's team brilliantly took the title after winning the Northern Ireland National Team in the final.
