[The Molina de Segura City Council sponsors the film projects Sorda, by Eva Libertad and Nuria Muñoz, and Jos Luis Espinosa, el esp a, by Alfonso Palaz n and Paco L pez Mengual (18/12/2020)

| Both initiatives, currently in development phase, have been presented at a press conference, today Friday, December 18, in the Municipal Plenary Hall | The Molina de Segura City Council, through the Department of Culture, is a sponsor of the film projects Sorda, a short by Eva Libertad and Nuria Muñoz, and Jos Luis Espinosa, el esp a, a documentary directed by Alfonso Palaz n Meseguer with the involvement of the writer and mercer Paco L pez Mengual.

Both projects have been presented at a press conference, today Friday, December 18, in the Plenary Hall of the City Council, by the Mayor of Molina de Segura, Esther Clavero Mira, the Councilor for Culture, Soledad Nortes Navarro, the co-director of SORDA, Eva Libertad, and Alfonso Palaz n Meseguer, director and producer of Jos Luis Espinosa, the spy.

"This City Council says the Mayor - has not hesitated to get involved in the economic financing of both audiovisual projects because we understand that public administrations are obliged to support cultural activity, promote the initiatives that arise from it and help them economically.

Only so that they can materialize.

Access to financing continues to be an important challenge for the cultural and creative sectors, and above all for projects that, to begin with, are not intended for the general public ".

The short SORDA, co-directed by Eva Libertad together with Nuria Muñoz, explores, from fiction, a reality little known to society in general, which seeks to make visible and make known the concerns of people with hearing problems.

To tell the story of ngela and Dar o, the protagonists of this short have found locations that are dear and familiar to the citizens of Moline.

The couple lives in a house in the garden of Molina de Segura, with its garden, its chicken coop and its porch.

In addition, to shelter from the suffocating Murcian heat, they escape to the small oasis of freshness that is the Soto de los lamos, on the banks of the Segura river.

Molina de Segura also appears as one of the locations of the documentary Jos Luis Espinosa, el esp a, by Alfonso Palaz n, in which he delves into the not simple life of Jos Luis Espinosa Pardo, a linked activist to armed movements in the last years of Francoism and the first years of the nascent Spanish democracy, which, in addition, became a confidant of the police of the time.

The Mayor has congratulated the promoters of both cultural initiatives "twice.

First, for the courage they show when taking charge of these two audiovisual projects, clear references of their social and personal commitment.

And second, for having achieved that their stories, one from fiction and the other from documentary treatment, serve to turn Molina de Segura into a film set.

The path is open and these two initiatives will surely join others loaded with ingenuity, creativity and enthusiasm.

Culture has the virtue that there is no virus to stop it.

" SORDA, project in development (teaser: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iYv8ovNqHwo) The projects that Eva Libertad and Nuria Muñoz produce at Nexus are aimed at telling stories from a singular point of view, reflecting the lives of women and realities that are usually invisible or underrepresented in the cinematographic sphere.

In 2020 they have launched Sorda, an important short film project for society and for them as creators and producer, because it deals with a subject to which they are personally committed, since both Eva Libertad and Nuria Muñoz have families very close loved ones with deafness.

This experience has made them sensitive to a reality unfortunately quite unknown to society in general.

From this concern to dialogue, approach, make visible and better understand deaf people, this project was born.

In August they began filming in Molina de Segura, when the situation due to COVID-19 allowed them to start it up with guarantees and they will tackle a second phase of filming in the spring of 2021.

Meanwhile, they continue to advance in the post-production of the short film and add more s support and financing.

With this project, the directors want to bring to the big screen a very little explored topic in the cinematographic genre: deafness, reflected from autonomy and empowerment, but also from vulnerability in a context that, generally, he is not prepared for it.

For this reason, Angela, the protagonist (played by the deaf actress and artist Miriam Garlo) is an autonomous woman, who "we hope will help generate new references for deaf women.

Our intention is to reflect on an invisible reality in different aspects: that of deaf women who want to be mothers and that of love relationships between a deaf person and another hearing person.

But above all, we want to convene the deaf and hearing community to establish a dialogue and reflect together on these issues.

" In addition, they want to reflect the deaf world closely linked to the listener, with the aim that the listeners identify with the story and are challenged by it.

To do this, they have chosen the sphere of the couple, a context where communication is essential and is usually always conflictive.

All the locations of the short film are located in the garden of Molina de Segura, where both the scriptwriter, Eva Libertad, and the protagonist, Miriam Garlo, spent many moments of their childhood.

Jos Luis Espinosa, the spy It is a documentary about the hazardous life of Jos Luis Espinosa Pardo, an activist who was involved in armed revolutionary movements during the last years of Francoism and the first years of Democracy, as well as a confidant of the secret police services.

The film investigates the hectic life of José Luis Espinosa Pardo and some of the darkest moments of the Spanish Transition.

And what led him to betray his ideals and carry, in that double game, a life on the edge.

Synopsis A novelist and a filmmaker investigate the figure of José Luis Espinosa Pardo, an active militant of armed revolutionary organizations during the Franco regime and the Transition, but who turned out to be a confidant of the secret services of the State.

In 1988 he was sentenced to 20 years in prison in what the National High Court considered proven that some unidentified people, "but they do belong to the police services", decided to "behead" the pro-independence organization MPAIAC by disappearing to its leader, Antonio Cubillo, a refugee in Algiers.

According to the sentence, those "undetermined" peopleThey commissioned the murder of Cubillo to Jos Luis Espinosa Pardo, who "had been and done almost everything: carpenter, spy, member of the Communist Party of Spain, Marxist-Leninist, qualified militant of the Antifascist and Patriotic Revolutionary Front and secretary General of the UGT of Murcia ".
