He was accompanied in the presentation by the Councilor for Sports and Health, Miguel ngel Cantero Garca.

In his last appearance, on Tuesday, January 12, Clavero reported that, until the previous day, Molina de Segura had registered a total of 324 active cases.

Today, ten days later, the municipality registers a figure of 617 infected people, which means practically doubling the figure in little more than a week.

Thus, the accumulated incidence in the last 7 days has gone from 499.4, to 744.2 until yesterday, Wednesday; and that of the last 14 days, which placed the cumulative incidence last Tuesday at 726, has jumped to 1,428.6 yesterday.

"And I have already warned you, in my most optimistic forecasts, that we will exceed 1,000 cases, but the figures place us above 1,400," the Mayor stressed.

"Figures continue to be unbearable due to the extremely high level of infections that we register and, above all, because of what affects the saturation of health services." "As I announced last week, and I reiterate this morning, Molina de Segura has had an unprecedented growth of COVID-19 infections in recent weeks, entering an extreme critical level.

Active cases They have exploded exponentially in these first weeks of January, and I believe that we are all aware of the seriousness of the situation that is causing this third wave, which is proving much more damaging than the previous ones.

All these infections are assuming the increase of hospitalized Molinenses, with a high level of risk for their lives.

Until the end of December, in the second wave we had registered 42 deaths of Molinens.

In these first weeks of January we have to regret the death of three molinenses ".

"This week we have held meetings of the COVID-19 Technical-Scientific Committee of Molina de Segura and the Municipal Monitoring Committee, to provide complete information on the evolution of the pandemic in our country.

I remind you that the reports that are prepared are available to the public on the website of the City Council.

From the first moment, social communication has been one of our priorities, which is why We activate all the channels to keep the population informed, and we also seek, as you know, the collaboration of the University of Mlaga ", explains the Mayor.

Until next Tuesday, January 26, the restrictive measures put in place by the Municipality of Molinense, last January 13, continue to be in force, following the indications of the Scientific Committee and which are summarized in the cessation of all face-to-face activities of the councilors, with the exception of the central services of the City Council that, by appointment, continue to serve the citizens, the postponement of the activity at the Villa de Molina Theater, the suspension of sports activity in municipal facilities for children under 18 years of age, reduction of the capacity of the weekly market on Saturdays to 50% and closure of exhibition halls, libraries, museums and study rooms to the public.

Clavero has remarked that "from the City Council of Molina de Segura all citizens are asked to voluntarily proceed during these tough weeks to confine themselves in their homes, leaving them only for work reasons or unavoidable needs, and avoid expose yourself to risky situations.

It is very important to emphasize this.

I ask my neighbors to take extreme precautions, to take out the essentials.

As you know, we have made an effort to increase the number of trackers that are They are doing an excellent job, and I can affirm that there is no collapse in tracking and that, with their work, they are helping to alleviate the transmission of contagions ".

Finally, the Mayor of Molina de Segura has indicated that "it is possible that we find ourselves, as stated by the health authorities, at the most critical point of this third wave, and that we will probably flatten the plateau of infections in the next few days, but my obligation is to remind my neighbors not to let their guard down and to observe all possible precautions.

I expect from our citizens the maximum understanding and collaboration With the measures that we put in place.

And I want to finish my words by thanking again the enormous effort that the members of the Technical-Scientific Committee and the health personnel of our municipality are making ".
