The City of Molina de Segura has a campaign against animal abandonment with the slogan Would you give someone your family? (28/07/2016)

The City of Molina de Segura puts in unacampaña up awareness against animal abandonment, carried out in collaboration with animal protection associations in the municipality, the Humane Association of Molina de Segura (APAMS) and Protective Association for a Whole New World (PUMI) and the Federation of Associations and Protectors of the Region of Murcia (FDARMUR) and the Official College of Veterinarians of the Region of Murcia.

The initiative was presented at a news conference Thursday July 28, by the Mayor of Molina de Segura, Esther Clavero Look, the President of the College of Veterinarians of the Region of Murcia, Fulgencio Fernández, Councillor of Public Health, Esther Sanchez Rodriguez and Councillor for Citizen Participation, Pedro Jesús Martínez Baños.

since for many citizens their animals are not pets but some members of his family with that strong emotional ties are established and become essential members within family life itself.

So many people and especially many children can not understand how someone leaves, causing suffering and death in many cases.

Councillor of Public Health, Esther Sánchez, explained that "the campaign is presented as an expression of the will of the Municipal Corporation in the struggle for animal welfare, in order to prevent abandonment and suffering."

It has also stressed that "these dropouts constitute a crime in our Penal Code (Law 10/1995, art. 337 bis)".

The campaign takes place during the summer, a time when animal abandonment increases in Spain.

According to the Affinity Foundation in 2015 137.831 abandoned animals in our country were collected.

Of these, 104,501 dogs and 33,330 cats were.

For its part, the Mayor of Molina de Segura, Esther Clavero Look, invited "all citizens of the municipality to demonstrate their respect and love for animals denouncing any action that may cause them suffering."

It also recalled "that this week has been completed, and moved to the municipal website so that citizens have their say, the draft will be the new Municipal Ordinance Tenure and Animal Welfare, with which it is intended to leap qualitative in the municipality in the protection and welfare of animals ".
