The Department of Environment of the City of Molina de Segura launches environmental education program for schools Molina, Discover Your Environment, edition 2016/17, in this new stage, which began last year after fourteen years of existence and a hiatus of three years, in order to establish itself as a resource for incorporating environmental education into the educational programs of the schools in the municipality of Molina de Segura.

The initiative was presented at a press conference on Thursday 29 September, by the Mayor of the town, Esther Clavero Look, and the Councillor for Environment, Maria Carbonell Purification Capel.

In this new edition we have expanded the offered topics, especially in the field of urban sustainability, offered in block Discover your city.

Water, biodiversity, waste, energy, responsible consumption, noise, urban mobility, air pollution and climate change are some of these issues that will bring the students to the urban environment and the impact of the city on the natural environment.

The program is structured in two blocks: Discover your city, dedicated to urban environment activities;

and Discover natural spaces Molina, where environmental education activities developed in the framework of the various management programs of municipal natural areas are collected, and will be served by the Center for Information and Reception of Visitors of Las Lagunas de Campotéjar and Information Center of Nature Alto del Rellano.

The program is aimed at different educational levels: kindergarten, primary and secondary education.

The activities are intended to be participatory and closer to the reality of the environment closer to students.

Through workshops, environmental itineraries through natural areas, games, visits to municipal facilities or investigations in the neighborhood, the students gain knowledge and skills that they can apply in their daily lives and contributing to environmental improvement of our town.

Environment Councillor, Maria Carbonell Purification Capel, thanked "the constant involvement of schools and teachers in the environmental improvement of our city, educating responsible citizens and committed to sustainable development".

He also stressed "the important role that schools and members of the educational community play as elements of projection and dissemination of messages of collaboration and respect for the environment, we intend to address with this program."
