The Jesus Abandoned Foundation initiates a program that seeks to improve the quality of life of homeless and abused animals (11/11/2016)

The Jesús Abandonado Foundation, in collaboration with the City Council of Molina de Segura and the APAMS animal protector, is carrying out an innovative project that seeks to improve the quality of life for both people and animals.

As explained by the volunteer of the Foundation and social worker, Victoria Lopez, the program, called 'Feedback', seeks to provide the users of Jesus Abandoned with the responsibility and knowledge necessary to help certain dogs, so that at the same time , Help themselves. "

Thus, after establishing a link between the homeless and the animal, "it is sought that both come out reinforced and enhance their abilities through care and affection between them."

"The project was born after carrying out an analysis between certain profiles of users of the Jesús Abandonado Foundation, and certain profiles of dogs of the Protector of Animals APAMS, Molina de Segura."

In certain cases, "both profiles share contexts and situations of abandonment, affective deficiencies, social and similar needs".

The sessions are held in the Zoonosis Center that the City of Molina de Segura has in El Romeral, and has the participation of members of APAMS and volunteers and users of Jesus Abandoned.

From the Consistory of Madrid, they point out that this project "produces a positive feedback effect on the participants, since it implies an improvement in the quality of life of users at emotional, social and health levels", among others, while " Contributes to animal welfare, highlighting the novel methodology used ".

The project is framed within the actions and activities that in the matter of animal protection are being carried out in the Municipal Zoosanitary Center of Molina de Segura, thanks to the collaboration agreement that in 2010 was signed between the City of Molina de Segura And APAMS.

For his part, Sebastián Moreno, APAMS vice president, remarks that "we have always bet on all those projects, not only exclusive for dogs or cats but also for those who have an important social component."

"We cooperate for a mutual benefit to develop or enhance self-care, autonomy, responsibility in people and at the same time favoring the physical exercise of dogs, supplement the lack of affectivity of many of these animals that have been mistreated and encourage in People the responsibility of having a pet. "

"From APAMS we want to thank the altruistic work of all our volunteers as well as those of Jesus Abandoned for his work with the most disadvantaged of this society."
