Antonio Conesa Sánchez will receive the distinction of Favorite Son of Molina de Segura on Sunday, January 15 (13/01/2017)

The act of homage and delivery of the distinction of Molina de Segura's favorite son to Antonio Conesa Sánchez will take place on Sunday, January 15, at 12.00 in the Church of the Sacred Heart of the hamlet of La Ribera de Molina.

In December 2016, the City Council of Molina de Segura unanimously agreed to award the distinction of Molina de Segura's favorite son to Antonio Conesa Sánchez, "for his outstanding record of dissemination of choral music and culture in our municipality, Through the creation and direction of the Coral Singers of the Vega ".

And dedicate a street or public space in La Ribera de Molina that contributes to perpetuate the memory of D. Antonio Conesa Sánchez.

Born in La Ribera de Molina on December 1, 1933, Antonio Conesa Sánchez is the son of Francisco Conesa and Cornelia Sánchez.

Its childhood takes place between the Second Republic and the Spanish Civil War.

In 1942 he entered the Diocesan Seminary of San José, Murcia, and he remained there until 1947, passing to the Major Seminary of San Fulgencio, Murcia where he began major studies in Philosophy and Theology.

It is at this time of Seminary that he begins his taste for music, which would lead him to form, in 1952, the choir group Masa Coral Cantores de la Vega.

He combines his two passions: music and his love for La Ribera de Molina.

The Choral Singers of the Vega makes its presentation in the city of Torrevieja (Alicante) in years 1955 and 1956, obtaining important prizes in the categories of great choirs and small choirs.

In addition to musical activity, his love of theater is coupled.

Thus, at this time undertakes several theater groups that get performances and some notoriety both inside and outside of Molina de Segura.

In 1952 he was ordained Deacon by the then Bishop of the Diocese of Cartagena-Murcia, Ramón Sanahuja y Marcé, and it is at this stage also that Antonio Conesa helps many young people to begin studies in educational centers.

In 1958 he leaves the Seminary and is licensed in Philosophy and Letters.

His vocation of life goes through other directions.

From this moment begin years of dedication to teaching in many educational centers, such as Marists of Alicante and Murcia, and the Labor Institute of Jumilla, where he would also create a choir with one of the great musicians of the Region of Murcia, Julian Santos .

For his classrooms and teachings will pass numerous personalities of the culture, the politics, the medicine and the society of the time, like Massoti Litel.

In 1965 returns to dedicate in body and soul to the Coral Singers of the Vega, to which endow of professionalism and musical rigor.

This coral will be its great creation, since it has been during several decades a cultural reference for the municipality.

Numerous performances and concerts inside and outside the Region as well as in the international arena mark the trajectory of Cantores de la Vega, created, cared for and projected by Antonio Conesa, who also contributed to the creation of the Molina de Segura Municipal Band of Music , As well as the staging of the Zarzuela La Virgen del Río, in which he participated as the author and director of the Choir.

It realized courses of direction of choirs in diverse places, like Lérida and Castellón, which gave him capacities of direction that contributed to the group Coral that created.

The figure of Antonio Conesa Sánchez is united to the history of the music in Molina de Segura, just as it is the Coral that created, Singers of the Vega, and undoubtedly its contribution to the culture of Mine.

The Coral Mass Singers of the Vega became one of the most beloved in the Region for its musical quality and for the numerous performances for which it was required.

Refounded in 1980, it has spread the popular music of the Region and has had a prominent presence in Festivals of Habaneras and cultural meetings at national and international level.

In recent years, Antonio Conesa has dedicated his time to the creation and direction of the Choir of the Third Age that formed and directed several years ago in the Day Center of Older People of Molina de Segura.

A choir that sings to four voices and that has obtained several prizes in its concerts by the Region.
